Installing source sdk, even though I have to delete tons of shit for it to install properly[/QUOTE] Source SDK is what you want - boot it, make sure that you've selected "Source 2009" and "Team Fortress 2" at the bottom, then launch Model Viewer. File > Load Model, players are located in /player/ (you can choose to use the hwm models if you want, as well, they're in /player/hwm/). Load the normal model, not the class_animations models. Once the model is loaded, make sure to tick Normal Mapping on.

I'm not entirely sure. Alt-tab and make sure the window's not just hiding from you? Oh, did you download "Source SDK Base 200x"? You don't launch the "base" programs - just grab "Source SDK". I believe the "base" programs are just content.
