Sandman is UP. At least now that people can move while bonked, make it so ubers can get bonked again.
Sandman is UP. At least now that people can move while bonked, make it so ubers can get bonked again.
No it isn't, they move 25% slower with no damage reduction so if you still can't kill them then you just plain suck, and stunning ubers was OP as all hell and should never come back.
Not stunning ubers I was fine with, but the health nerf instead of double jump made me sad, then I noticed that it didn't even "stun", and I died inside
Woah, I thought that the Pro-Beta died off because they competitive players just stopped playing on it? At least, that's what I was told, and Shintaz basically just confirmed what I heard. And if so, I'm pretty sure it was dead long before the Engineer update.
I honestly must question Robin's idea of "skill depth". Speeding up the Heavy doesn't add skill, it just makes the Heavy more useful. He's still a hold cursor over target and M1 class for the most part.
What's worse is that speeding up the heavy removed skill depth. The idea of the heavy is that you had to be able to plan way ahead and have good map knowledge and navigation skills, but now you can just run up to someone and shoot them. [editline]1[/editline]
19. Seriously, dude, how are we coming with the “Meet the…” videos for Medic and Pyro? Please? Pretty please? Sweet nelly, does this interview ever end? I feel like I've been typing for hours. 20. And finally: Any thoughts for TF3 or are we going to hook TF2 up to the same machine as Blutarch and Redmond Mann? That's it, I'm leaving.
:v:
Not stunning ubers I was fine with, but the health nerf instead of double jump made me sad, then I noticed that it didn't even "stun", and I died inside
I was fine with all of those except the movement part. It started out as this godly menace, it's just plain shitty now. I still use it, though I wouldn't if I couldn't doublejump
It's official. The game will now be known as Competitive Fortress 2.
I really do hope Pyro and Heavy get reworked to require skill.
I really do hope Pyro and Heavy get reworked to require skill.
Oh do not start this shit. They both require skill. Just because most of them W+M1 does not mean that the whole class is shit. And as it was said before, the heavy required skill, you NEEDED teamwork. Just because you think that by playing Anything other than those you are a skilled player?
I really do hope Pyro and Heavy get reworked to require skill.
Easy to play hard to master now shut up
Easy to play hard to master now shut up
Wrong. Pyro and especially Heavy are very easy to master; they simply don't have much depth as any of the other classes.
Wrong. Pyro and especially Heavy are very easy to master; they simply don't have much depth as any of the other classes.
Heavy used to be harder to master than he is now and pyro's actually pretty hard to master. Puff+sting is pretty difficult.
What's the Pro-beta anyway?
What's the Pro-beta anyway?
EvilShadow777: Pro-beta is a Beta test where they basically take a bunch of high ranked competitive players and put them in several different game environments to test new weapons and weapon changes. It may sound bad at first, but it's not like a 6v6 or anything, these are normal games put under various conditions. They don't just play 1 round and have the players say whether they think something is OP/UP. Go to page one next time.
Wrong. Pyro and especially Heavy are very easy to master; they simply don't have much depth as any of the other classes.
There aren't that many Don Newmans running around. :v:
Wrong. Pyro and especially Heavy are very easy to master; they simply don't have much depth as any of the other classes.
ITT: Reflecting projectiles as Pyro is easy to master
I like playing competitive, but I never understood why Valve is trying to appeal to the minority.
I like playing competitive, but I never understood why Valve is trying to appeal to the minority.
It's not like they're blindly making changes just for competitive players, they're not going to do something that negatively affects pub play too. They want to benefit both sides of the spectrum. Plus, if Counter-Strike has taught Valve anything, it's that comp. players can keep a game alive for a long, long time.
I know something you don't know :downs:
Nothing is more fun than getting a whole team of Natasha Heavies in arena and just w+m1 everything. Nothing is more frustrating if it happens to you.
I don't mind the planned changes so much. I'm no competitive player, but I do like the idea of things leaning to be a little more skill-based. Natasha can be beaten, but like someone earlier said, it's just not fun to fight against Natasha. As for the Wrangler, while it's true you can kill the Engie, I hardly ever see this tactic put to use, mainly because the Engie usually hides himself almost entirely behind his sentry, making it hard to kill him.
I didnt mind competitive player before... but now it's getting personal.
Say, here's a mandatory idea: give the game a Competitive Mode as well as the Public Mode. That way the competitives and the pubbers get their own gameplay ways, with the Competitive Tweaks going into the Competitive Mode and not ruining the fun of the pubbers by making them general tweaks. You are welcome to email this to Robin, since I can't be arsed.
even better make it a console command to change it on the fly
I didnt mind competitive player before... but now it's getting personal.
Those bloody commies (:v:) got my precious gunboats nerfed. Damn straight it's personal. Wrangler is fine, I have no idea how you guys are trying to get a sentry down; rush right into the bright shiny laser thing like a cat? Get the engi by surprise or maybe get a spy (who could have ever thought he'd come in handy in a situation like this) to sap 'n stab or vica versa. Natascha is just downright annoying though, not OP, but annoying. Meh, we'll see when the changes get here.
All they've done so far is piss off the majority of the TF2 players. Don't tweak the Heavy or Pyro and fix the sandvich. http://i1020.photobucket.com/albums/af330/scotty-furs/Cogsgrove.jpg Cut it out.
Comp players don't play the game as Valve intended it to be played so why is Valve listening to them.

Gunboats were only banned in comp. because they were initially only available via random drop, i.e. not everyone could have them so it would be unfair. The nerfing was Valve's doing. Two, Spies are near useless in competitive play because Spies depend largely on the other team not noticing the Spy or otherwise being incompetent. Competitive teams are smaller and much more tightly coordinated than a typical 12vs12 pub match. A Spy will hardly be able to sneak up on an Engineer without someone noticing and alerting the rest of his team unless no one is nearby (unlikely, since Engie is only used for defense in comp.). The real problem is that Wrangled Sentries have infinite range, auto-aim, and no damage falloff at range, meaning that unlike every other weapon in the game, it does the same damage at close range as it does halfway across a map.
NO Natascha is fine the way she is.

I only heard about it being Nerfed due to Competitive players saying it was unbalanced, so I'll apologize for that. 2. Do you honestly think anyone outside of competitive gameplay gives a damn about it? If the spy can't sneak up to an engi, get a new spy. I guess you're right about the damage fall-off for wrangled sentries though. Oh goddamnit I didn't want this to be pageking.
Valves trolling us again guise, don't feed the gaben
