• [IDEA] Crappy Weapons - negative stats for a reason!

How about more training items? Like a Sniper Rifle that can only headshot and does no damage on a bodyshot, a regular grenade launcher with the bomb shatter effect of the LnL, a Scattergun that only does damage if you are up close and all pellets hit, a Rocket Launcher that does no damage but has the pushback of the regular Rocket Launcher so you can bounce and juggle, a knife that will only attack if it will be a guaranteed backstab (actually that'd make a good unlock), or maybe a flamethrower that has damage vulnerabilities but allows you to reflect rockets and jump with them without taking any damage? Hell, I'd pay 50 cents for 'em.
Crappy Grenade Launcher +500% inflicted self damage per pipe +50% blast radius I plan to bring in a new age of suicidal demo's
To be honest I was expecting something else when I saw the thread title. I was thinking along something like putting an assault rifle in TF2 but making it a horribly crappy weapon (like worse than the SMG) so that F2P players would immediately grab it thinking "COOL ASALT RIFLE" and then they'd rage from how bad it was. But I was mildly surprised to see a somewhat good idea.
What if the weapons jam and loose all their ammo in the clip? :ohdear:
Updated OP a bit to make somewhat more sense.
I can't believe you people are actually saying this is a good idea.
I can't believe you people are actually saying this is a good idea.
If you could supply a good reason why it's not, I may be able to fix it up.

Wait, what would a Crappy Holy Mackerel do? Also, if you get killed by a Crappy Weapon, it should show in the same way a FISH KILL! does. And make the border of the killfeed message in all white, just like if the player seeing it got a kill.
Wait, what would a Crappy Holy Mackerel do? Also, if you get killed by a Crappy Weapon, it should show in the same way a FISH KILL! does. I like your fish kill idea though.
Time to use this two dollars and fifty cents key on my crate oh look a weapon that i would use but won't because it's a "crappy" variant. ...really?
If you could supply a good reason why it's not, I may be able to fix it up.
There's no way to "fix it up," it's just an all around stupid idea. If it were ever implemented (which it will never be unless Valve is stupid), people wouldn't even buy the keys. Who would pay for a key just to get a weapon with only negative attributes and no positive ones? I doubt TF2's "Collectors" are that retarded. And even if TF2 collectors would go for these, there goes another downward spiral in the economy. Also in before you rate me dumb and then ninja-swap it to disagree again.

It's for people who want a challenge in TF2. Sometimes normal unlocks don't give you the awesome feeling of being good at the game. However, with these, they provide a challenge.

It would be interesting if there was a crappy mode [sp](inb4 medieval lol)[/sp], where you could only use crappy weapons.

And still, if people want a challenge, there's Arena mode. No one is going to spend $2.50 to unbox a "Crappy" weapon. Does anyone even play TF2 for a challenge? I guess if you want a big challenge, play TF2 with only stock weapons.
go up against people you know are better than you. change your playstyle. change your loadout completely. there's your challenge.
And that's another thing. F2P players are among us now, so it is sometimes hard to find a challenge in some of the hardest places. Some people feel like they're good with the playstyle they have, so this can give you something to work towards. Think of it as a "hard mode" in TF2.
Instead of bashing on what I like, can you provide a good reason for once?
I already have.
that alone makes it a bad idea or a bad implementation of an idea.
And nobody is going to spend $2.50 on a normal weapon either. But people do, because that's what they get from it. Same with strange weapons. Come on guys, if you want a fight, give me a good reason.
And nobody is going to spend $2.50 on a normal weapon either. But people do, because that's what they get from it. Same with strange weapons. Come on guys, if you want a fight, give me a good reason.
Wow. I'm not trying to fight with you, I'm trying to tell you that nobody wants to spend 2.50 to unbox what may be a weapon that only has negative stats. there is no weapon or item that you can unlock that is purposefully "crappy" so your point of "but people pay that for an unlockable/strange" is completely invalid. it is a bad idea. it is a bad implementation of a bad idea. instead of saying that everybody that disagrees with you is wrong, try altering your idea so it is actually something more people will find worth discussing.
And nobody is going to spend $2.50 on a normal weapon either. But people do, because that's what they get from it. Same with strange weapons.
Um, yes we do? Sometimes people don't feel waiting to get the new weapons via drops or crafting, so the quickest alternative is to just buy some from the Mann Co. Store. Also, the weapons that are found in crates is not because people want the weapon inside. People open the crates for the prize of a paint, a hat, or an unusual item. The only reason people want Strange weapons is because it's cool to have a counter of how many people you killed with your gun as well as a self-naming weapon. It also gives you a goal to strive for, shooting for the name changing milestones.

But I haven't found one yet. :colbert:
Um, yes we do?
And the goal to strive for for crappy weapons is to become a better player.
What makes you a better player in the world of TF2 is by adapting to TF2's play style.
What makes you a better player in the world of TF2 is by adapting to TF2's play style.
I'm done arguing, you're obviously not getting the point of the weapons, and you are just looking for something to argue about in every post I make. If you want a change, say it, if you think the idea is crap, go ahead and say it too; but you are not supplying in evidence and/or ideas on how to make this better.

No, I gave you valid reasons why the idea doesn't work and it would be stupid to implement but it seems like you're reading it as a comment of hostility and your mind begins to cry, "STOP HATIN' ON ME AND MY IDEAS GUISE ;_;" EDIT: I came in here and the minute I saw the avatar, I had the bad feeling that you were going to going to backlash at people who disagreed with you. But I thought, "Nah, maybe he's different," since you asked people to tell you if they didn't like the idea by giving you a disagree. The minute I saw you rate me dumb for not liking the idea (and then changed it to disagree to hide the butthurtness), I instantly knew you aren't any different from the other MLP fanboys. So I'm not going to bother.

All I saw was "Idea is stupid, shouldn't happen, keys not used, retarded, idiotic" Besides, if people cared for hats and unusuals, they still have the chance to get them in the crates. How about that? I finally found out what you were trying to say out of your garbled language. Sorry.
