killz2much, its a idea. You come in the thread talking about how its a dumb idea, and the reason is because he watches MLP
killz2much, its a idea. You come in the thread talking about how its a dumb idea, and the reason is because he watches MLP
Someone who understands me. Thanks man. I felt like this was never going to end. Anyways, I added a crate example to the OP. I hope that helps you a bit, killz.
crappy Natasha oh wait
This is the worst idea I've ever heard. It may sound fun in context but when you actually GET, say, a Crappy Degreaser, you'll be nothing but annoyed because everyone will have a significant advantage over you.
This is the worst idea I've ever heard. It may sound fun in context but when you actually GET, say, a Crappy Degreaser, you'll be nothing but annoyed because everyone will have a significant advantage over you.
And that's the point of it. To get better with the worst. [editline]1st July 2011[/editline] I also added more about it as the last question in the Q/A section.
And that's the point of it. To get better with the worst.
That's terrible. Why would you or Valve or anyone INTENTIONALLY hinder players to give everyone BUT THEM an advantage? And making them crate-only, so you have to spend money to get a weapon that is naturally disadvantaged? Come on, seriously.
What valid reasons? All I saw was "Idea is stupid, shouldn't happen, keys not used, retarded, idiotic"
I never said the words idiotic or retarded. And your only rebuttal is, "It will make you a better player," which it won't. But I'll list them out anyhow. Reason #1: No one is going to spend $2.50 to open a crate containing a weapon with only negative attributes. This is self explanatory. Reason #2: It doesn't help you become a better player. TF2's combat plays out more like a game of chance. There's no way to get more damage out of a player by hitting them in different areas. There's no headshots (unless you're a sniper) or anything of the sort. That's why there's random critical shots implemented in the game. Guns with only negative aspects would just fuck you over in practically every situation unless you got lucky during the fight and got critical shots. Take a Tomislav Vs. Sasha into account. A "Crappy" Tomislav would take the same amount of time to start firing as Sasha, but the firing speed is slower. The Heavy using Sasha would win EVERY TIME, unless the Crappy Tomislav Heavy got critical shots during the shootout. Reason #3: It wouldn't bring a challenge, it would only bring frustration. As I stated in #2, the game is more focused on what weapons you are using and what your play style is to adapt to the weapon at hand. There is no way to adapt to a crappy weapon, you would just die every time unless you had the element of surprise which is hard as fuck to do unless you're playing Spy.

Much like how people complain over getting crates or things like that. Hmm, maybe a rust tool? Maybe that will make this a better idea. A rust paint that makes weapons crappy, that is findable. How about that?
killz2much, its a idea. You come in the thread talking about how its a dumb idea, and the reason is because he watches MLP
Uh no. I said the reason why he's being a baby about people disagreeing with his idea is because he likes MLP.
And that's the point of it. To get better with the worst.
if you want a "crappy shotgun" then maybe you should challenge yourself by pretending your shotgun only has three shots or something.

It's not about the way the item is distributed, it's about the fact that it was just plain never a good idea to start with.
More people not giving explanations. This thread is great, guys!
^^^^ This is what I mean Suttles.

Read the last answer in the Q/A. 3. Then you need to learn to play.
Good idea Zadrave, I will edit the items_game.txt and I will use it in my server.
Good idea Zadrave, I will edit the items_game.txt and I will use it in my server.
I didn't even know items_game still worked. That's pretty cool. Any suggestions?
More people not giving explanations. This thread is great, guys!
Are you dense? I gave an explanation in the post above, which you promptly IGNORED in favor of asking if it would be a better idea to distribute it a different way. [editline]1st July 2011[/editline] Also, you don't seem to understand that not everyone is you. I don't have the same playstyle as you. YOU may like hindering your own gameplay for some dumb masochistic reason, but I can GUARANTEE you that not everybody would. Even if this is "for the people like me who like that kind of thing", it won't be implemented in the game in any form, because Valve only implements things that appeal to the gamerbase as a whole.
Are you dense? I gave an explanation in the post above, which you promptly IGNORED in favor of asking if it would be a better idea to distribute it a different way.
Both of which I fixed from your explanation. And those reasonings aren't supported with evidence except for #2, which simply just means you have to be quicker, faster, and sneakier than your opponent. And that's the entire point of these weapons. That way when you switch over to the normal counterpart of said weapon, you will stay have the quickness, fastness, and sneakiness that you did before.
1. Fixed.
How? You still say the weapons should be in a crate series. Unless you are trying to say they can be found randomly in other crates like normal weapons are but then that would put people off from buying keys in fear of getting a crappy gun.
2. Read the last answer in the Q/A.
You used a weapon that a 1 hit insta-kill from the rear as an example. Try any other weapon but the knife for the spy, as I stated in my reason between a Crappy Tomislav Vs. Normal Sasha.
3. Then you need to learn to play.
:effort:
Don't worry Zadrave has always been pretty stupid
Why not just like make it an option to get crappy weapons? Go to backpack and check off an option that says "Do you want crappy weapons to drop?". I doubt that this idea will be implemented anyways, but hopefully this will stop all of the pointless drama. Sounds like it might be fun to mess around with though, give the f2p players a decent chance of winning.
I didn't even know items_game still worked. That's pretty cool. Any suggestions?
I will tell you during the test step, and maybe set positive attributes to negative.
Good idea Zadrave, I will edit the items_game.txt and I will use it in my server.
I'm not familiar with items_game.txt, but if it's a server side edit, then everyone would be on the same playing field, right? That makes more sense, kind of like some servers with anti-random crit mods.

If someone said something like this, I would have accepted it instead of bashing the idea without an idea of a fix. Thanks.
I'm not familiar with items_game.txt, but if it's a server side edit, then everyone would be on the same playing field, right?
I'm not familiar with items_game.txt, but if it's a server side edit, then everyone would be on the same playing field, right? I like to edit some weapons without attributes, or weapons with same attributes than others, to add more gameplay (and unbalancing the game)
That's a good idea, you see. If someone said something like this, I would have accepted it instead of bashing the idea without an idea of a fix. Thanks..
I Do you not understand that it is possible I mean CAN YOU EVEN FATHOM FOR A TEENY TINY ITSY BITSY MINUTE FRACTION OF A SECOND that someone might not think this is a good idea and that they do not have any criticism because of that fact?
I never said the words idiotic or retarded. And your only rebuttal is, "It will make you a better player," which it won't. But I'll list them out anyhow. Reason #1: No one is going to spend $2.50 to open a crate containing a weapon with only negative attributes. This is self explanatory.
Quite the contrary, People open crates now at $2.50 a pop hoping for items with no attributes at all.
Quite the contrary, People open crates now at $2.50 a pop hoping for items with no attributes at all.
If you mean the Strange weapons, then no. People want them because it has a kill counter, changes names depending on the milestone of kills you receive (aka another status symbol) and it gives you a goal to strive for.
I Do you not understand that it is possible I mean CAN YOU EVEN FATHOM FOR A TEENY TINY ITSY BITSY MINUTE FRACTION OF A SECOND that someone might not think this is a good idea and that they do not have any criticism because of that fact?
Then they shouldn't be posting anyways? Just say that you don't like the idea, and say why. That's all I ask. People are lacking the "why".
Quite the contrary, People open crates now at $2.50 a pop hoping for items with no attributes at all.
but those items dont have just negative attributes so that isn't contrary at all.
