TF2 is now free-to-play - Games

Ok so I fail to understand how this is pissing people off so much. I can understand some minor frustrations, but you've been able to play the game for much longer than everyone else. Now that more people can play this game you guys get pissed? Holy shit it's an amazing game and now it's fucking free. I can understand people that spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on monthly subscriptions for a MMO, but jesus at most you spent $50 of initial cost for this game with the Orange Box. This is the same thing as a massive sale. Ok so someone can get a premium account if they buy a $.50 item in the store. What difference would it have been if Valve decided to have a sale on the game for $.50? Do you get angry every time someone buys the game when it goes on sale because they didn't have to pay as much as you did? How about when the game gets a permanent price adjustment? I've been able to play this game for 4 years now. I'm not angry because the money I spent 4 years ago has been so worth it. I would even understand anger if you bought the game a few months ago and this happens, but jesus quit crying over Valve's decision to let people play their game for free. It's an amazing thing that's rarely done in videogaming.

I think that the major problem is the future community.

Guys: shut the fuck up and enjoy the game. Just watch- come to me in a week and tell me it's significantly worsened by this F2P business. Until then enjoy the fucking update.

I dont mind. Maybe now i can try and get more of my friends to play it.

I love how the majority of the idiots bashing on people who actually spent money on the game are saying that apparently [b]EVERYONE[/b] who ever bought TF2 bought it the same day it came out. Nice one. Because the entire TF2 community bought the game at the same time, and the same day it was released.

I hope they release steam prepaid cards eventually.

That was 5 games for $50. If you wanted to buy TF2 separately from the rest of the box it was always priced at $20.

Pretty much, people who bought the game get a hat that represents that you bought the game. People who didn't buy it can pretty much buy the game by buying a key. We get a hat. My gripe with this is not the fact I paid money that is now worthless for at the time an almost perfect game but because soon armies of 12 year olds and CoD fans will descend upon this game, dragging the community down even lower :argh:
