That's why I said it wasn't the problem, Mr. Scottish Dog.
You implied that you didn't disagree.
you didnt lose anything why can people not understand this
This. If you buy the Orange box you just buy another great games. My only worry is the new players hacks everywhere and most of the good servers full.
But it's free to play now.. forever. Now it's only a matter of time before people truly lose interest so that the MannCo ceases to be productive, then TF2 will end.
Can you stop using the same argument?
There's a difference between buying a game and the price going down gradually, and buying a game, and then it becomes FREE for everyone forever.
I keep saying the same argument because you don't seem to understand it whatsoever. Someone who buys bc2 now spends $30 less than me, someone who starts playing tf2 now spends $20 less than you. There is no. Fucking. Difference.
Do the people who payed for the game get a hat?
Hat you get for already owning the game:

Proof it is now free to play:

Now everyone be quiet.
What are most of you complaining about? Look at all the fucking updates valve has given us and never charged us for it. I say you got your moneys worth as soon as you started enjoying this game.

Contact Steam Support and explain.
I love how the majority of the idiots bashing on people who actually spent money on the game are saying that apparently EVERYONE who ever bought TF2 bought it the same day it came out.
Nice one. Because the entire TF2 community bought the game at the same time, and the same day it was released.
Whenever I make a point it's in reference to buying the game 4 years ago. Even if you bought the game 1 year ago, $20 for over hundreds of hours of enjoyment is well worth it. $20 is a lot of money for me, but if you are going to bitch about how you lost money then you need to learn what it really is like to lose money. Gaming isn't an investment. Everything you buy with regards to gaming is going to suffer a loss. You're just angry because it's an easy target. Grow up. If you bought the game a few months ago I can understand, but honestly it's a limited generalization.
If you complain about the problem of the community or hackers I can understand, but crying over $20 because now more people can enjoy games is outright selfish and childish.
Guys. Think about it. Most of us got TF2 in the Orange Box back in 2007. We have played the game for about 4 years now. You got what your money paid for. Now its just being opened to create a larger community. I don't know how most people didn't freak when it was 2.50$. We still get to play the game just with other people. Its time to let other people have a turn. The ones who are less fortunate and couldn't afford in the first place.
But it's free to play now.. forever. Now it's only a matter of time before people truly lose interest so that the MannCo ceases to be productive, then TF2 will end.
a 4-year old game coming to an end??? oh no
Still waiting for the people who "dumb"ed me to actually tell me the game won't be full of hackers now that its free to play. These are probably the people who just sit on trade and idle servers and don't actually play the game.
For you guys worried about the F2P Cheaters, look at the FAQ.
Q. Won’t going Free to Play mean more griefers and cheaters?
We’re increasing our focus on making sure that hostile players can’t ruin your fun. Specifically, we’ll be keeping a close eye on players exploiting the ability to make infinite free accounts to bypass bans. We’ve built systems that’ll allow us to measure and track what these players are doing, and respond quickly.

Too bad VAC takes at least 3 days to ban someone, and when that happens, they just make a new account.
you think after a couple of runs they'll get bored

To be fair, Valve promises that they have a system set up to try and handle this.
To the people who are bashing at me,
I will be one of the people to say to the people who are now playing it for free for the first time, Welcome to Team Fortress 2. Now you dickbags, not the new TF2 players, but you asses who are just being dicks to the people who bought the game, like I said before, some people have worked hard for the $20 standalone or $50 bundle. Now, Valve got some good revenue with that, but they have to think of the people who did buy it, they should do more then give them a fucking hat. They should at least give them a free game, maybe that under $15 bucks. They should at least be "Thanks for actually buying the game, since you will now endure the F2P'ers, please take this as a gift for being a loyal customer." They should at least give us something that is worth more than that stupid hat.
I wanna spam the chat in every server with HATS HATS HATS just to try to ruin the game and hope valve catches on.
Would you guys seriously rather play TF2 for free, 4 years prior to release, other than paying the full game price to play it on release?
Not everyone bought it 4 years ago

Not with your argument. You've consistently posted that your issue is with people having to pay less than you did. In this case it's $20.
a 4-year old game coming to an end??? oh no
Yeah exactly it has come far enough, it has gained Valve enough money.
Now let's just hope they spend all that hat-money and what-not into new installment of games. I hope for that at least, I don't look forward to any new updates for TF2 anymore tbh.
FREE PLAYERS GET:
NO TRADING
NO HATS
NO COSMETICS
ITEM DROPS ONLY
LIMITED BACKPACK SLOTS
LIMITED CRAFTING
THE ECONOMY ISNT THAT FUCKED
Being a free player is the dream of everyone who say that "Hats ruined the game, I want my vanilla game back".
if you bought a game for $50 and then it went down to $30 the next month, would you get extremely mad and demand your money back?
But that isn't the case at all.
This is a 4 year old game that was $20 at release got constant updates and had many sales even going for something like 2 dollars a few times that is just now going free.

that is stupid as fuck
Alright, people, calm down. Is Team Fortress 2 Beta F2P? If not then we can all just shelter there free from anyone who didn't buy the game.

stop, nobody should get something extra for buying a game earlier at a higher price
it's like saying "hey DICE, give me a free game because bc2 is now $30 cheaper than when I bought it"
and I will keep using this argument until you finally understand it
Can you stop using the same argument?

If you bought the Orange Box when it released, you paid $10 for TF2.
If you bought TF2 stand-alone off Steam on release, you payed $20.
Stop bitching.
I, for one, like this. All of my friends IRL now play TF2.
I brought TF2 for a friend 1 week ago, fuck me.

I don't think it is. I couldn't use it on the alt account I made for my trading bot until I gifted it TF2.
