I just came back after being away for a week and now TF2 is free an-
Wait wait wait hold up.
So, I can just make like 500 accounts and just keep idling and get unlimited items?
Goodbye, economy.

At least they know this is Hat Simulator 2011. :v:
Only thing I'm concerned with is that the quality of the community will go down.
Whatever was left of it anyway. :smith:

No, I belive if you get the game free, you don't have a premium account, therefore you don't have certain privlages such as weapons or soemthing... I think..

Oh, so its more like a trial sort of thing. Kinda like WoW I guess?
This is probably in the OP, I should like, read it or something.

If you ignore the community, and just play the game for what it is, it's a much more enjoyable experience.

Probibly, I just assumed that would make the most sense for a company to do.
Premium account, Trading, Items that cost money, Promotional Hats, Customizable characters...
This is a description for WoW, but yet, it also describes Team Fortress 2. Back in 2007 and 2008, none of the things listed in the description above would even come close to be going in TF2.
So sad...
What are the premium items, anyways?
What are the premium items, anyways?
I didn't know there were premium items.

The community made the experience enjoyable.

I mean the rare items you can get only if you've got a premium acc.

You get a British World War I and II helmet.
You also get more slots in your inventory, can give and recieve gifts and other goodies.
You can coach n00bs. Which is actually fun, I've been doing it for a while now with players who like being engineers.

Snip
Well shit, im premium, the only thing you get is a hat called "Proof of Purchase" Nothing else, nothing fancy.
Please read the FAQ.

Q. How is a free account different than a premium account?
Premium accounts have a few extra features, including access to rare and cosmetic items through random item drops, the ability to store more items in your backpack, and more powerful trading and crafting abilities. Otherwise, the gameplay experience will be identical for both accounts.

Yeah, will do.

In fear of misleading you, I will back out of this topic, and go back to reading the threads.

In the beginning it was fine, but then it contracted a case of "Updates suck" from the CS:S community.
Brb marrying Valve and giving them my babies and the deed to my house.
Are people still bitching? Because Arma II is free also.
I honestly don't mind the change.
Yes, servers will be filled with idiots for a while, but eventually they'll either get better or quit playing.(Not to mention a lot of the players before this update were horrible anyways, so it's not like that matters much.)
I didn't get my Proof of Purchase hat... :smith:
Hopefully I'll get it later. :unsmith:
This entire f2p tf2 this just pisses me off, servers are now spammed with noobs that can't play and are just annoying as hell.

You have no god damn idea what WoW is.

The best thing about this game used to be the community. The game is still basically the same as it always was, with some more content, but the community will never be the same.
When I think about this, I guess I prefer the cod4 weapon unlock system by far.
it just feels like I already failed on getting the new items with these recipes.

I don't understand why they didn't just stick with the fucking achievement milestone system, that was perfect.

The community hasn't been the same since unusuals were added into the game

Well it's much more balanced now, and with less game breaking exploits.
Edit: But yeah, the core game is the same.
Are people still bitching? Because Arma II is free also.
Arma II is $40.
