Man you guys are such downers I swear. I have no issue with the game beign free or "I PAID $20 how come I only get a hat" because this game has already given me a load of free content, years of fun and a nice community to enjoy it with. If you'lr worried about all the hackers and little kids find a good server with mods that pay attention and it wont be an issue, and as far as the Economy, its alread pretty broken so I honestly dont care what happens to it. So if you'll excuse me I'll be off enjoy this awesome update with my 3 friends that all downloaded tf2 within 20 minutes of FTP being announced :v:

A bit of math! let's see. I've owned the game since may of 2008. Up until the Uber update, I have put around 610 hours into the game (Never idled). I paid the full purchase price of TF2 (That is, $20)
Doing a bit of math for dollars per hour...

I've spent about (Rounding) $0.03 per hour playing Team Fortress 2. I'm sure some of you paid less and have played longer. I dunno about you, but, [b][i]I think I got my god-damned money's worth.[/i][/b]
Not to mention I'm still going to play a fuckload, so that figure will go down with time.
To those complaining that their TF2 got ruined, even if you stop playing entirely due to this event that doesn't truly affect you personally, Just realize that you have put so little money into this game compared to what you got out of it than most other games on the market. Something to think about.
I'm very happy about this, and I don't care if I payed for TF2 [b]four[/b] years ago and people get to play it for free now. TF2 has given me way more than my money's worth.
It's been less than a day and I'm already frackin' sick of hearing people bitch about TF2 going free to play. These self-entitled twits are even going so far as to bitch about Valve giving them AN ENTIRE GAME FOR FREE! For the love of God, grow up. Instead of bitching about it, either acknowledge the upsides (which far outweigh any cons), or go play something else. No one will miss your incessant whining. And, with the bevy of new players coming, our servers will be full and active.
Why not join the ranks of the COD "hardcore" players. Then you'll get your game that never changes over years of play. Hell, you won't even need to deal with the Mann Co. Store! 'Course, you'll have to spend $15 or more on a couple of extra maps, but that's okay. I mean, it's not like you can't just get them via an unlock or anything. Right?

Why do you guys complain so much about this? I'm all for it becoming free, even if I did buy it with the Orange Box 3-and-a-half years ago. I can get new friends (well, friend) playing and the new accounts get their restrictions, so they can't be used as alternate idle accounts.
And about the new players.. well, what do you expect? They're new and have never played it. TF2 is a fairly unique game, they aren't going to get the hang of it immediately.
