all this crying over tf2 going F2P is sad, so what if you paid 30 15 or 5 pound/euro/doller you've got your money's worth. what other company will let their game go F2P after 4+ years, sure there will be hackers and newbs at the start but give it time it'll get better and and valve will ban the hackers.
ITT LETTLE CRYING BABY MEN
I Played a few rounds on ctf_turbine last night. It was kinda sad to see the amount of new players on the server. Got people asking questions like "How do I build the small sentry?" and "How do you turn invisible?" At first I thought it was a joke until I saw these people getting the most basic achievements like 'Hard to kill', 'land grab', and of course the gibus grab. It was 7 on 7 and I'm fairly certain that only me and this one huntsmen sniper were the only two people who had played TF2 before. We both had scores well above the next highest player.
I'm sure as they learn the game, they'll end up adding to the community. But the next month or two is gonna be hell.
Its called coaching :v:
Seriously, if you guys want to avoid the hell, be a coach. You get free stuff for being one.
I played last night with half a team of new players. I first realized it when somebody asked "Where do you get the baseball for the scout?". I told him, a few others asked questions, I suggested what classes they should try and they did. We got to the first point(it was a payload map) and one of them thought we had won. I told him there were 4 more points and he apologized.
F2P isn't adding some ungodly weapon, or modifying game modes, it's only adding new people. Some of you guys need to calm dwn.
So I've yet to see a hacker in 850 hours of play.
And I have a feeling that's not going to change.
Do people over in the states, europe and asia just hack more often or something? Do the higher populations mean that there are more hackers to connect to popular servers? I don't really understand how you guys are meeting so many hackers.
I have never ever seen any kind of hacker in my 900 hours, I very much doubt I ever will, f2p won't change this.
We get a free hat. We are above all those who could not afford it.
We need more red panties for these poor, menstruating masses.
Oh what the fuck almost every server I tried had russians talking and flooding the chat with their weird language. And they fucking ignore you if you tell them to talk in English like they do in EVERY damn game. Fuck.
We need the Nazi banner, cept instead of a Swastika, a hat.
Tried some more of my favorite EU servers, more russians. I guess the only servers I can play now are the UK ones.

I like new players, they don't act like complete dickbags like the majority of tf2's playerbase.

I'm pretty sure people aren't insane so I'm truly confused if they're mad that the game is now free, or that more people are going to "ruin their experience." The old saying may be annoying but still stands true "we are all noobs once." Heck facepunch, I thought you were better than this,

ahahahahaha
Also maybe this'll ruin tf2 like the mac update did!
Right guys! Remember how the mac players were the supposed death of tf2?
All my favorite servers are now full. Crap.
I was pretty pissed, but this isn't that bad anymore.
a lot of the new people are pretty cool
it's refreshing when half of the servers you used to go on were full of dicks
Yeah, I really don't care about free to play as long as it doesn't effect my ability to get items as a premium user. I have some servers that I like, and I don't think they will be too messed up by the influx of new players. Just please don't make any more of these 1+ refined weapons. I want some mantreads and booties
New game to take advantage of the anti f2p'ers.
1) Remove all hats and misc items
2) Vanilla loadout
3) Dominate the whiners
There are advantages to this.
I just sold a crate for a light-brown paint and 6 crates for a team spirit.

F2P players can't give you items.

They can't trade? That's actually a decent way to go.
Its a real shame that a company like Valve that treat its fanbase so well ended up with a spoiled, half retarded fanbase thats never impressed with anything they do.
Whereas Activision can release 4 maps for £15 and get absolutly no grief from their fanbase.
To all still butthurt about F2P;
I love it when this sort of thing happens and people are like "we deserve a refund if we paid" and when you look at their profiles they've played for like 2000 hours. I really think that's your money's worth right there.
It's even better when you see people say that, but then right after they say that they go "I don't even play anymore anyways" or "I haven't played in years" they are just making an excuse to try to get money.
I wish I knew what everybody was talking about, all the damn steam servers are down, I can't even log in. fuck.
I didn't read through the entire thread, but do people who have bought tf2 don't get any extra features or something like that?

A hat.
You guys are crying in the rain, this update's fine.
Me, I think it's better. More players, longer life of a game. So y'all can shut the fuck up.

The joke's going over my head, explanation?
Well I'm fine that it is free to play, but some of my friends bought tf2 just this month, so I doubt they will.
