Friends I've been trying to get into the game for ages are finally playing it, I want to be able to play with them.
Then they should buy the game. I'm not sure why everybody finds the notion of "If I want to play a game, I have to buy it" so hard to understand.

Most of them have no way to pay for it due to lack of credit card.
I dont understand the elitism here.
After 4 years, I think the money we paid was well invested, especially when most games these days only have entertainment value of a couple months if even that.
Even then, this deal is for steam. STEAM. Last time I checked, most pc gamers pride themselves are having a better community then console players, so who are you scared of coming into the game?
You seem to have this whole idea that if the game is free to play, all the horrible people in the world will come rushing to the game. You act like tf2 is the only mature community and everyone else acts like COD kiddies. Hell, people from COD will not even give this a second glance as it isnt their taste.
Basically youre going to get people who HAVE steam who are pc gamers JUST LIKE YOU. Just because they didnt take the time to buy tf2 does not make them all of a sudden an incompetent noob.
While this may be a surprise to you, TF2 has very easy learning curve and the most people who download this will have experience in pc gaming.
I am surprised at most of you, youre all acting like a bunch of old people scared of change.
I remember people before the trading system coming out were bitching about having no trading system.
I remember before custom weapons and hats came in that people were bitching about lack of customization and personalization.
I remember before each update people would complain about the class being under powered and then with the update buff they would complain of OP.
I am probably going to get heat for this, but I am not afraid of the new gamers ruining TF2 as that role has already been filled by the existing members of the community.
Theyre the ones who complain and moan for something, and when they get it they complain and moan about it! The TF2 community has a fear that immature kids will join in and do "newb" things, when the TF2 community is already basically a spoiled fucking kid who thinks they should be treated in the highest regard.
Most games after a few years do not even get a fraction of the attention valve gives team fortress 2, and so many of you take that for granted.
tl;dr Quit bitching like spoiled kids. The people coming in are pc gamers like us.

I want that face (when Spy eats his leg) for Steam Avatar.
I had a similar moment yesterday as spy, except the Engineer taunted.... and he was wearing a proof of purchase. :v:
One of my favourite servers now has a plugin that allows Free players to enter, but if the server is full and a premium user wants to join, a free player will be kicked to make space.
I like the way the plugin works, yeah it sucks for free players, but it's better than not let them join
You know, I was really anti-F2P for a while, now I just enjoy it. I like the fact that new players are learning the game. Those who hate it will leave, and we will have a lot more people who really enjoy it.
They're ripped straight off the Professor's Peculiarity. Wonder what it looks like when you equip both.
I have them, too bad I can't show you becosue lost my fucking password to steam.
I wouldn't have a problem with this if there weren't 5 spies and snipers on one team.

I really want to see some cheaters.
Then I'll have some real competition.
There is one phenomenon I am seeing though. Since the veterans are generally being spies, the new players are being raised in an expert-spy rich environment. After playing as spy in a valve server for awhile with the same new players, they begin to spy check the shit out of everything. This means that when they finally mature into formidable players, they will be very seasoned in anti-spy maneuvers.
Guys, join a valve server and take eternal reward.

What bothers me is the shitload of people that are going engineer. A team that's 80% newbies can -make- a four-sentry nest, but can't -break- through one.
Oh would you look at that, its been almost 6 days since TF2 went F2P and we are still topping off at 95k players.
Makes reading the first few pages of "oh no this is the end of TF2" even funnier.
I really don't understand why people are boasting so much that they're getting lots of kills against noobs. Of course you're gonna do better, pointing out that you can score more than them by a mile is not that of a hard task.

I completely agree. It's like talking shit about how you beat up a little kid and then getting your ass whupped when you fight somebody who's actually on your level. Regardless, I will now one-up whitesinner.

Is it possible to buy premium TF2 for another account? For some reason, my card is auto-declined on my alt. Steam account even though I've got more than enough funds, the right info, e-mail, etc. and I want to buy premium TF2 on it so it's of at least SOME use to me.
