Except that isn't a valid argument. If VALVe refunded the people who bought it in the last week or so before it went free2play I'd be happy with them. I personally have owned it since release and don't want any compensation as I've enjoyed it for the most part. The people who have to save up to buy games because they are still in School or whatever and then managed to just buy it before this are gonna be pissed.

The only cheats in GG2 are ones where you can see invisible spies, and ironically enough most people who use and/or create them are admired in the GG2 community.
I sort of hope they do make it free. I just started playing during the free weekend and ADORE the game. I cant buy it, due to elaborate credit problems I won delve into, and the inability to buy a steam prepaid card.
I would feel bad playing for free if paid players didn't at least get some sort of recognition for them buying the game, though.

I dunno what GG2 community you're looking at, but most people who admit to using cheats are scolded. There are a few people who have made cheats that are worth something, but they're generally smart enough to not use them seriously nor distribute them to others; only for dicking around. Hell, I made a projectile aimbot for shits and giggles before I became a dev. It was funny, it fucked itself up when there was latency, but dammit it was more impressive than what the average joe is capable of making (ie commenting out/removing 1 line of code).
