Name is from battlefield heeroz.
Anyways, why everyone just talking about "1 shot per reload".
Just think. 50% from 4 is 2...
No, name is from the "Chicago Typewriter", the 'street' name for the Thompson submachinegun, primarily the ones you see in the mobster/gangster movies, modified with the large drum box magazine and the foregrip.
Guide On! - Shovel Replacement
Lead the way, Soldier! Your shovel is replaced with a gigantic 2-meter pole with the proud American flag embedded on it. But do you stab or smack your enemies with it? Hell no! The Soldier wouldn't disgrace the flag for those maggots! He leads the way!
*He gains a charge bar which refills by itself slowly but refills faster when taking damage
*He gains 50+ HP to have better survivability
*When the charge is filled up, he gives his best warcry as he screams into victory! All allies within vincinity gains 65% damage boost to kill their way to victory! But hold on there, Soldier. Better make your war cry count, it only lasts long as a Medic ubercharge!
*ALL allies are inspired to fight...except the Medic. His HP is stumped by 30 and his ubercharge rate is slowed down! Your striking patriotism in your flag is penetrating his cowardly Nazi heart!
*Cheating is disgraceful! Once you switch to another weapon from the Guide On! Your 50 HP boost is immediately gone. But it returns if you switch it back!
It would be awesome if the soldier actually got to use the grenades he's juggelin with in his taunt as a weapon.
I don't think it's a good idea to give someone an ability that negatively affects a teammate.

65% Damage Boost + constant healing by medic seems overpowered, don'tcha think?
It's unfair to negatively affect a player when they have no control over it.
Guide on seems like a good idea but 65 percent is too much, how about mini crits to all people around the soldier and it charges by getting damaged or it negates knockback and slowdown?
If soldier gets that pole, he wont be able to walk bridge in 2fort (pole gets stuck on roof)

Main: PIAT or heavily modified mortar launcher.

Secondary: SCREAMIN' EAGLES: Throw eagles at your enemies face, making your vision blocked, a screech that makes all chat not show up until the eagle is removed (Can be shot off by teammates).

Secondary 2nd option: Rations?
Melee: "Dudley" Replaces the shovel with a dud rocket. Does less damage, but swings faster. And sometimes, it isn't a dud...
I could dig a mortar-launcher, it would turn the soldier into more of a buff demo though.
Primary - The Screamin' Eagle
A Mortar that has been modified so it can be carried like a rocket launcher. Named for the high pitched sound it makes as it travels, the Screamin' Eagle fires shells in a similar trajectory to the Demoman's pipe bombs. However, unlike the pipe bombs, the shell immediately detonates upon impact with anything, be it enemy, ground, or wall. The shell does more damage and has a higher spread than a rocket, but must be reloaded after each shot. The mortar cannot be used for rocket jumping.
Secondary - Assault Rifle
Well... basically just an assault rifle. Like the minigun, it holds 200 ammo, but does far less damage per second.
Alt. Secondary/Melee - The Maggotkiller
A Semi-Automatic rifle that fires accurate shots and works best at medium-long range, doing less damage at close range. It has a bayonet at the end which can be used with the alternate fire. The Bayonet does 25% less damage than the shovel under regular circumstances, but does 120% the shovel's damage if the rifle is out of ammo. Takes up both the secondary and melee slots.
I like the idea of giving the soldier a rapid-fire weapon, like the Thompson. It just seems to fit a soldier better.

Seems to make my nemesis, SHOVEL POWER! Even more dangerous.
To those interested: The first part of my Mission is complete!
How about this Concept?

Anything on Steampowered Forums disgusts me.

I think I like this wepon.
AUTOMATIC WEAPONS ARE OUT OF THE QUESTION
Being a soldier is about forcing yourself to become more manouverable by rocket boosting/jumping and giving the soldier three projectile weapons is also bad since it gives the player three long range options to choose from. the maggot killer just turns this into COD4 with the gun and melee button, be more damn original for gods sake, look at the soldiers weaknesss and think up weapons that are similar to his current playing style

I've always been in favor. Of a grenade launcher like the M79. It should not fire in the same way as the demo's, one shot, fast reload (probably a second between shot) Explodes on impact meaning splash is still applicable, but the damage is that of a single Pipe bomb from the demo.
^Yes, oh yes
Doesnt REALLY fit in with the soldiers stylr, soldier needs to be a dealer of mass group damage so i dont really see a slower fire rate helping anyone

But its got larger damage thats the compensation, its also widespread due to the explosive part, Its like a flaregun that goes kaboom.
It'd be neat if they added ammo types.
Maybe like 5 different types of ammo that do slightly different things.

Yes, so now lets give the engineer a medieval cannon, instead of a sentry that will reload 5 minutes, but has larger damage, thats the compensation. Seriously, leave this to Valve, guys

Fine, but I am entitle to stupid ideas as much as people are to thinking cliched weapons are what the classes need.
An rocket launcher like RPG from HL2 would be cool..
Follows the laser
No critical hits
No rocket jumping
50% less ammo (dunno, this could be removed)
An rocket launcher like RPG from HL2 would be cool..

Auto-detonates after 6 seconds
That sounds a bit better, removing rocket-jumping wouldn't be very fun.

Freeze rockets!
I think a larger explosion would help the defensive role, hitting more players, knocking more back, but make it reload faster or the rocket go faster, as reloading/fast attacks help it defend. Highten the damage a to 10% less and lessen the charge to 10% per person hit, also allow to save the crit-rocket with the right click, although it wouldn't be fun, remove the rocket-jump too, as it is offensive, but this also doesn't let him get damaged by his own rockets.
Nah, Soldier should get an M1 Garand. +100% clip size, -40% damage, 75% faster reload, no rocket jumps. Sounds reasonable to me, expecially since Soldier wanted to fight in WWII. It would just make sense.
EDIT: It might say 200% clip size since the rocket launcher has 4 rounds and the M1 has eight. Who knows.

Definitely not as a replacement for the rocket launcher, and too powerful to replace the shotgun.
