Been idling using this method for few hours.
Got The Ambassador, Force a Nature and The Dalokohs bar so far.
Equalizer, Dalokoh's, sandman, Pain Train, Hunstman, axtinguisher just for this day.
And I'm at 40 km from my computer, still not disconnected :D

How the hell do you connect to servers? you guys all seem to do it easily, but if i type in the console window nothing happens

No, you just remove it.
1. put -textmode in launch options.
2. Launch game.
3. Use the server tab on Steam to find and connect to a server.
4. Idle.
5. Stop asking questions before you read the thread.
This isn't a third party tool, therefore, it does not go against any rules. You cannot lose your items/ get banned for using this.
I propose a solution to hat drops, I [i]think[/i] the chance of getting a hat is 1:252 every 25 minutes, again, I [i]think[/i] so don't bitch if I'm wrong, but every 50 minutes, the chance increases by one ex: 2:252, BUT the next time you get a hat, it is reset.

I think that could work, although the number you're up to would have to be cached on your steam profile, otherwise it'd reset every single time you played the game (negating any build up of odds)
Even just increasing the chance of getting a drop would make it a better system in my mind, I started idling just because I wasn't getting anything during normal play.
Edit: I just worked out, at my non-idling drop rate, it would have taken me until June 2016 to craft a random hat.
I can't connect to any server with this, help?

The play time does cache. The time between hat dice roll is 4:28h [according to Drunken f00l's pre-september stats] and it still matches mine [much smaller sample,but matches].
So if the time didnt cache,then people would need to play 4:28h non-stop to get a single hat dice roll :p
Same thing for item drops. One roll per 28 minutes and that 28 minute is cached.
It doesnt seem that chances stack the more you roll the dice until you get a drop. Otherwise,the variance between drops wouldn't be so large.
apparently, -nopreload is [B]THE[/B] command that reduces a lot memory usage after -textmode ; went down from 200ish megabytes to 95 here

Anyways, I've only gotten a flare gun, huntsman, and atomic punch from this so far.
And yesterday I idled for 5 hours straight and got absolutely nothing. Ugh, some people play little and get a shitload of hats, while others play a lot but barely get hats.
One of my friends has 255.5 hrs gameplay and not a single none-event hat or misc item.

-novid only removes the intro vid
and 255 hours is nothing, I have currently 250 hours/2 weeks according to steam
So far I have got 2 chocolate bars out of this and that is it.
Nice I need more weapons :D
