I just dislike it, because it took me so long to get a computer to run TF2, and now I'd have to "play" it in a command prompt window.
You're angry that TF2 runs in cmd when you want to "quote" play TF2? "unquote" ? You should be happy! TF2 can run on the shittiest PC thanks to my discovery of TEXTMODE!!! I can idle on an old averatech 1.8ghz sempron piece of shit laptop that has a hard time just launching Source Tools :p
Source Tools Auto reconnects me when I get D/c'd right?
yes
Then I'll see you guys in 3 months.
Can someone post the command for auto-reconnecting to a server please? I can't seem to find it.

I just use textmode and the +connect option. I have a reserved slot on an idle server so I made a shortcut to launch TF2 and connect aitomatically to the server. One-click idling brings me back to SteamStats.exe days.
13 hours of idling... http://www.tf2items.com/id/comradekowalski 3 Items... Omfg. :saddowns:

After about 4-5 weeks of using this, got Texas Slim's Dome Shine. Meh. A week later, the Idle Gods showed favor in me and bestowed a level 48 Texas Ten Gallon. Thanks for the great idling technique!

Good bye idle. http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=3727&p=1
i was wondering does this work if i have an mobile internet connection with upload 0b/s to 1 mb/s and download 99mb/s?
You can't get in trouble for using a feature Valve has implemented.
Like the engie glitch with the multiple buildings, a guy accused me of "Exploiting the glitch.."
i was wondering does this work if i have an mobile internet connection with upload 0b/s to 1 mb/s and download 99mb/s?
Why did you bump this. Idling is dead
This rocks, thanks. Looks like I'm really late to the party!
Why did you bump this. Idling is dead
Dunno why he bumped it, but I'm glad he did, because for me, idling is better than ever. I've been playing TF2 for only like 1 hour a week, so when I idle now, I get items quicker than I ever have before.
Well at least you're happy. Now let this thread rest in peace.
Poor thread. At least I managed to get some people some last minute hats and drops before they butchered (but not completely killed) idling.
Poor thread. At least I managed to get some people some last minute hats and drops before they butchered (but not completely killed) idling.
Does the sourcetools idling still work? It couldn't seem to launch TF2 today.

Hi all, I hate bringing a dead thread back from the grave, but I have a question regarding TF2's text mode. As I leave it running in the background, I like to occasionally check on it to make sure I have not disconnected from my current server. The last time I did this I also decided to check my task manager to see how much of an improvement I was getting in terms of resources. The results are...odd. ~300,000 Kbs seems rather excessive for the program, at least in text mode. Not only that, but it also looks as though the amount of RAM the program consumes as it runs continues to increase over time instead of staying at a steady rate like a regular instance of hl2.exe (When I use the term regular I'm referring to running the game normally, not with text mode active). I'm wondering...is this normal? It's not hindering my other tasks or anything, I'm just concerned that if I leave this thing on overnight something will happen. Is it possible that this is a memory leak, or is there a correct answer that I'm just not seeing?
Thanks. Definitely will start using this. :D
WOW THIS IS SO USEFUL! Or maybe it just does the exact same as sourcetools without reconnecting you.

Next time just make a new thread 'Question about idling with textmode' or something.
