Isen't textmode realy realy realy old way to idle?
It's like sourcetools, but not as good.
It's like sourcetools, but not as good.
Source tools only automates textmode, nothing more.

The reconnection part and the fact it will restart it if it crashes is what everyone wants
um... How do I find the servers tab?
also, how do I undo this when I want to play TF2
um... How do I find the servers tab?

view -> servers
Also it doesn't do this everytime, next time you load tf2 it will just be in windowed mode
I didn't read the whole 19 pages prior to this but, It doesn't seem to be working because I have yet to join a team or a class so I can't spawn rendering this useless. I never see my name in the text saying that I suicided. How do I fix this?
What a bump!

You can still idle in Spectator.

As the user above said, you can idle in spectator
I think we just went back in time!
I'm assuming it tells you when you get an item?
I'm assuming it tells you when you get an item?
I think that shit is broken. (Might not be)
Just check tf2b.

Not at all.
Its been five months, way to necro a thread.
Why cant people look at the post dates?
Made a batch file to launch it a while ago as I am a lazy arse.
@ECHO off
DEL "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\hexpunk\team fortress 2\tf\maps\achievement_idle.bsp"
CD "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\"
SET servIP=84.242.235.147:27015
SET mapName=achievement_idle
ECHO TF2 Idler
ECHO Current server IP: %servIP%;
:: Let the user decide (modular too!)
CHOICE /T 10 /D N /M "idle local?"
IF ERRORLEVEL 2 GOTO Internet
IF ERRORLEVEL 1 GOTO Local
:LOCAL
steam.exe -applaunch 440 -novid -textmode -console -nosound -nopreload +sv_lan 0 +sv_pure 1 +sv_cheats 0 +map %mapname% +mp_timelimit 0
:INTERNET
steam.exe -applaunch 440 -novid -textmode -console -nosound -nopreload +connect %servIP%
If you do want to idle online, just change the servIP variable at the top to whatever IP you want, if you want to use local just change the mapName variable to whatever you have. Not sure why I bothered to include a option as both work the same, but whatever.
Oh and remember to change the steam path thing near the top to your user.
Even easier. Idle in training mode in text mode. Just make a shortcut with this in it:
"C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 440 -textmode -nosound -nopix -novid -nopreload -nojoy -sw -w 800 -h 600 +OpenTrainingDialog
Am I the only non-idler?

And you will still get drops?
Cool.
[editline]1st January 2011[/editline]
Sorry for the bump :c
Ive seen this thread before, I feel old.
It's easier also adding the map
-applaunch 440 -textmode -nosound -nopreload -novid +map arena_badlands
in a shortcut to steam, then there's no need to configure console and removing text mode and all that kind of jazz every time you start up TF2
Better use: Turn TF2 into a old dos text adventure!
I can imagine that.
(Scout on battlements!
(What do you do?
(go to battlements
(Went to battlements. Lost 3 hp from scout scattergun fire.
(use rocket launcher with scout

(get ye hat

Say, are there still achievement servers were you can type something like !giveall
and get achievements completed?
You guys, if you didn't already know, it is much easier if you just add the command +OpenTrainingDialog to the shortcut, it makes it so you don't have to join a server since it creates your own.
