The last time my first hat (Backbiter's BillyCOCK) dropped was about 4-6 months ago.
That was the first and still the first random hat drop I've ever had.
I recently crafted a hat with some extra weapons and I got a Scotsman's Stovepipe. Then I crafted that with my Pyro's Beanie and got a Bloke's Bucket Hat.
I love the Bloke's Bucket Hat. :h:
I crafted hats four times in my whole career.
The first time I got a Football Helm which sucks, so I epic raged and crafted it with my Tyrant's Helm and got a Fireman's Helm.
The fourth time which was last week I got a Football Helm again ;A;
And when I was testing out my map yesterday I got another Football Helm

The game wants you to keep those Football helms, they obviously don't want to part with you

We didn't cheat, we did nothing against the rules. We did less to cheat than achievement farming, because we did nothing, and it was from doing nothing we were awarded.
