• Is there any downside to the Enforcer when using the Dead Ringer?
You cant get ammo. Thats a major downside. If you use the boots, and don't need ammo...you don't have any ranged.
You can still get ammo from dispensers. It has no real downside with a MASSIVE upside.
pain trains better
Looks cooler, too. I'd rather beat someone to death with a nail bat than a scimitar.
pain trains better
http://www.tf2items.com/id/timwav What's that you say?
Do you have a twitching problem? God damn quit moving your mouse so damn much.
We're talking about a game that has a class that can instantly kill you by hitting you in the back now aren't we? You're supposed to do that.
Every time someone says the new demo pack is OP, my hand goes through my face.
Wonder why demo is only one who can go all close range only.. they need melee packs for other classes. [editline]23rd July 2011[/editline]
... except for the fact that you're giving up your 2 best weapons and have no way of ranged fighting at all
Wouldn't say best, but most versitile.
The attributes on the 1001 Demoknights pack are all fucked up. The Shield is okay on its own, I guess, but I wish that the other two were stacked differently.
We're talking about a game that has a class that can instantly kill you by hitting you in the back now aren't we? Sometimes I can do it on cue if I'm really lucky.
I've always thought they'd nerf that thing so that it takes 0.5 secs longer to decloak instead of cloaking. That would affect all watches and would be a bigger downside, making it more balanced.
I thought you take longer to cloak and decloak and with DR you still instantly cloak but wait longer to appear. Now that I've learned it only slows down cloaking it really is upgrade with DR. I love the gun and I won't lie about it not being straight upgrade to Revolver (Did I say that correctly?). If they decide to nerf it in the future I hope they won't rape it too much.
You know what? With item combos like the Axtinguisher and Degreaser and the Enforcer and DR, and certain demoknight sets, let's just all run around insta-killing and being invincible. This way the fun will never end. ever It's like every single map is ctf.
Man oh man.. Persian Demo is so fun to play..
Man oh man.. Persian Demo is so fun to play..
This on degroot keep and you are invincible. You can even charge over the castle wall thanks to that big rock near blue spawn.

In my opinion the Enforcer should start at like -20% damage or something like that, where you have to backstab people in an Eyelander-esque way to get it to the damage it has now. Remove the slower cloaking time and throw in something like slower reload, lower fire rate or smaller clip for good measure. It encourages you to backstab people more than battle spy-ing, and also gives a downside to all watches. Sounds good to me but I have a feeling its not in reality.
Eww. No.
Quick nerf idea for the enforcer. -35% less damage resistance while cloaked So that 90% damage resistance is now about 60% with the Dead Ringer. Also weakens things like the Battalion's Back-up while cloaked (if backpack effects even work on cloaked people).

If you use Dead Ringer and use it well, you can get away with anything. Maybe it could make cloak and uncloaking sounds LOUDER, and negates Saharan Spy mute.
Well you kind of can't have the Saharan Spy mute if you have the Enforcer equipped.
Well my perspective on things is that you lose the muting effect of the Saharan Spy if you use the Enforcer, which can be a pretty big downside depending on the server (i.e. quality of players) you play on.
Enforcer needs a "No Crits" Debuff, a 144 crit is ridiculous. An Ambassador headshot is only 104 btw
Enforcer needs a "No Crits" Debuff, a 144 crit is ridiculous. An Ambassador headshot is only 104 btw
I know on servers with crits enabled if you get lucky you can kill heavies injured in 1 crit and a few normal shots
Well there's always the idea that the enforcer could have a smaller clip size.
I was actually surprised that the Enforcer didn't have a no crits debuff. For the louder cloak/decloaking, how much louder will that make the DR? Also, I'm curious, what was everything that was wrong with my idea?

And then people will still fail to hear it.
The downside is that you're using a pathetic crutch for bad Spies (The DR, that is). And then people rate this dumb and disagree because they are, or play with bad Spies, who are just plain stupid.
Sneaking in without a cloak makes you a pretty damn good spy.
Thankfully to the powers of the Splendid Screen, you can close the distance between you and your stupid gun-using prey nigh-instantly, dealing a crit at any time. The only thing you need to be careful about when using it is to not go charging head-on into a spun-up Natascha Heavy. Everyone else, you can completely obliterate with naught but a thought.
You're still useless against level 2 or level 3 sentries. demoknights are only good at killing unaware and single targets.

Also, I'm curious, what was everything that was wrong with my idea?
Well, from the standpoint of an Enforcer Spy, I've gotta say just about every suggestion you made in your post would make it absolutely worthless. Less damage until you backstab? Only if it only requires one backstab to at least reach stock revolver damage, or you end up promoting DR spam instead of trying to work against it. More damage means more likely to make it out alive after blowing your cover by killing a guy; pointless if you die and have to work it back up. Slower reload I could live with I guess, but is wholly unnecessary. Lower fire rate makes Pyros love you, much as they do Ambassador spies. It's generally not a good idea to run around with an equip that makes your hard counter that much more annoying to handle. Except in this case, we can't even rely on a quick headshot to save the day for us. The faster shots on the stock revolver would mean more damage in less time, making the damage boost pretty pointless. There will hardly ever be a time you're thinking "good thing that shot did 6 more damage", but the times you'll think "wish I got another 30 damage shot in" will be all over the place. A smaller clip means the gun is useless in its entirety, much like the winger. Sure, you do more damage in a shot, but the quicker need to reload negates any and all effect on your overall damage; significantly moreso than a slower firing rate. A louder cloak would be fine by me, so long as they didn't extend the range it can be heard from, only the noise it makes. As for crits, which I don't think you personally mentioned, it is my opinion all random crits are complete bull and should be disabled by default.
