New one, because I am actually getting things. Old one had a chance that it would be a hat... but the drops were so rare, it was bullshit.
Old one, but I'm pretty darn biased considering I had given rebirth to automated idling.
Old one. Got two hats and right around 3/4ths of a crafted one via idling. Even when I played with the new one, I got very little.
I can't tell, I get/got 3 items per week at most.
New one, because now people actually play
I would prefer a combination of the two.
Guaranteed drops with no cap.
best drop system
Old. Now I don't even play TF2 anymore because the items are so fucking hard to get to me. It's agonizing. It takes about as long to find a hat in the OLD one then to take about as long to find a WEAPON in the NEW one.
So you stopped because of items and not because you don't like the game.
New one because I can enjoy the game.
Ever since the new drop system, I have NEVER found a hat, EVER, that is why I hate the new drop system, well the main reason I hate it anyway.
i found two hats in two days
i prefer the new
i rarely get drops with the old one
i didnt get a drop in 3 months

You don't like using 'punctuations'? Well that's just dumb. Also, you need to on Facepunch for all our sanities.

I never idled, but I preferred the old one, because back then I actually got shit.
I never idled, but I preferred the old one, because back then I actually got shit.
Strange, because you're guaranteed to get shit every 2hours or less, the old system, on the other hand, was random, I've once didn't get a fucking drop for 3days
Bullshit. New one sucks, there's something called 2-days-limit, if you hit the limit(random limit) in one day then you won't get any items for next 2 days. This sucks, I was IDLIng for 5 hours and got 9 items and hat, I was idling for 13 hours more and got nothing.
New, because I just bought the game two days ago
New, because I didn't get shit with the old one.
This, and also idlers get less items and fuck idlers.
[editline]01:49AM[/editline]
I wouldn't really mind if there was no cap but if you play enough to reach it every week then goddamn get a job or go to school. Or play some other game.
I like the new one, but I still haven't found one hat ever. In all 454 hours, I've never found one measly hat.
It took me 600 to find one :v:
I prefer the newer system, makes idling rather pointless.
I've been getting way more hats with the new system!
I've been getting way more hats with the new system!
Just because you got more hats, doesn't mean it's better than the other, hats are random.
Well actually i am neutral becuase i found items and two hat, one per drop sistem, but i propend to like the new one. I am getting more items now
They should really blacklsit and whitelist maps, kinda like what Tripwire did with Killing Floor, to limit drops on idle servers. That was it can be detected whether you idle or not, and therefore the drop cap would be removed as idling would be useless. Hardcore TF2 fans can get 50 items per week (that's if you play 50-75 hours per week), whereas casual player will get what they deserve.
More on topic; I got barely any items with the old system, but I did get my first hat drop with it. With the new system, I actually get drops. So the new system is much better...until I hit my cap. But even then, it's better.
One thing that annoys me is that I haven't found a hat in well over a year. I've played 400+ hours during that time (yes, actually played) and I've crafted 5 hats (one was a hat recraft, so technically 4 hats from items). Kinda bugs me how people find two hats in a week or whatever, yet I haven't had one drop for bloody ages.
I find it funny when idlers complain they can't idle on the new system. That was the EXACT design intention.

You apparently don't know how to idle on a stock Valve map. It's very simple. Step 1: Create a server. Step 2: Set the map as ctf_2fort or whatever. Step 3: Idle. That wouldn't stop idlers, it would just mildly annoy us.
I like the new one because i got 4 hats after they changed to it :smug:
With the new system if you don't play for a week does your cap go up or do you get items faster?
cap goes up
neither
no drops no problems
I find it funny when idlers complain they can't idle on the new system. That was the EXACT design intention.
I'm not really complaining that they made us unable to idle, what I'm complaining about is that now getting hats is just as hard as it was when you didn't idle when idle was possible.
It didn't punish idlers as much as it punished everyone.

The drop system has always sucked balls, but at least with the old system there was a way that meant you didn't have to wait so bloody long to get anything.
Looking at it now the drop system is really annoying.
Should've stayed in milestones or been an even better system.
