That's awesome, be sure to have a tutorial on why W+M1 isn't how Pyro should be played. Everybody I've coached seem to think that's the way to play Pyro and while it can work switching to another weapon is more effective.
In general, the pyro should be played as an ambush class, though some of the newer weapons defer from this role.

Pyro has great utility as a defensive class though, especially when paired with an Engineer.
Also, for when you make a Medic infographic, remember: Colleagues before Comrades: always heal other Medics before other classes.

And remind them not to be a Pocket Medic. Everyone needs to be healed.
I recommend this video to every new Medic.
It illustrates the other Medic golden rule: Always heal to max health before switching.

It increased my effectiveness by insane amounts.

Sometimes, though, pocketing may be the best course of action. For example, if you're under heavy fire keeping that Heavy alive may be your best chance at winning. Though it's all very situational and 9/10 times you want to spread the heals.

If you mean heal the person to max before switching to another person then I agree, but I didn't need to see any videos on that, it just seemed pretty obvious.
In general I figure out all these strategies on my own.

This thread isn't about you, it's about the newbies.
This thread isn't about you, it's about the newbies.
Okay, I'll make a post that's about how we can teach the newbies.
Another thing we need to teach Medics is not to heal obvious spies. Every F2Per I've seen is completely trusting and will heal anyone.
I tried coaching for the first time today. Voice chat worked but everyone on the server could hear me, which was weird. Could that have been because of alltalk? I want to use voice chat but I don't want to annoy everyone else on the server by giving tips.

Yeah, that's weird. Coaching needs some tweaking in my opinion. From what I've seen there's no way for the student to ask the coach questions.
And once again I want to ask:
[editline]27th June 2011[/editline]
I'm coaching a dude right now and he seems to be ignoring me.
Is it confirmed if the coach chat can be seen by the student yet?
From my experience it seems like the game treats you like a spectator. So they should be able to see your chats.
Just so you know the Column Names in the speadsheets for Coaches and Students are all messed up

Yeah, I was asking since everytime I've coached my student ignored me and didn't reply so I was wondering.
And like I've said before, they need to make it so the student can ask the coach questions instead of just making the coach a commander in a RTS. (GO HERE AND ATTACK!)
Request - Another addition to both application forms - Microphone Chat Enabled? Y/N
I've mistaken "Primary language" for my native language; of course I can also speak English. Would you kindly edit my application? I_am_your_death_NL is my original steamname, it's currently "Botervloot".
Trying to coach these people is going to give me internal bleeding.
applied coach
<--- nearly 2000 hours of tf2.
I'm very new to Team Fortress, and my friend sent me this forums way, anyone here willing to coach me?
I would but I'd prefer Australian/same timezone students since you know, the pings and all that.
Form for coaching has been submitted
Something is meesed up with student's list. Titles aren't displayed correctly.

Problem is that people think of "ambush" as "run directly into a large group of enemies that can see you from a mile".
Ambushing should be considered an advanced tactic because you really need to get a hang of the game, quickly calculate how it will work, will it work, how to get into position, is it a good idea to attempt to sneak behind, know the map well, understand potential problems, and formula a backup plan.

Testing infographic style thing for that map someone is working on.
Then it'd lead to a course where the coach fires rockets/arrows/sentry rockets at the students and has them deflect them.
Great job, I love it!
Applied for coach position. 600+ hours of TF2.
Might get to work designing infographs.

:buddy:
But won't it be annoying for the student to download a custom map?
I think then the goal should be to make the map size as low as possible.

If they want to learn something, they will download it, don't worry.
If someone is too lazy to download a map, he is to lazy to learn anything too.

I will adapt my old map tf_fiesta as the training center.
What courses should I make?

It's fucking awesome when it works though :buddy:
Would this do for a Medic training course?

This is really good!
There is a typo though, "pateint" :v:
