My experience with competitive players is that they give ridiculously terrible feedback on custom maps and I expect them to do the same about the weapons Valve give them permission to test. So many of them reject new custom maps. Pretty much the only one that have been played alot is cp_freight. There are loads of great custom maps out there (Waste, Yukon etc...), but they refuse to give them a chance. They test it ONCE and give feedback based on their first impression, which is incredibly bad. I'm not saying every competitive player is like this, but a majority of them are.
Not true. On the etf2l server 70 % of the time custom maps are played, and ALL of those players are comp players. Also I talked to Loe from rockit! and he said they didn't have to sighn a nda, but valve asked them to not brag about the beta. Competitive players are going to be playtesting new weapons? Looks like no more fun unlockables :(
Competitive players are going to be playtesting new weapons? Looks like no more fun unlockables :(
No they're not.
No they're not.
So, what are they really testing ?
So, what are they really testing ?
A competive friendly tf2, more he wouldn't tell. It's probably just like a new gamemode, won't affect public gameplay. When I asked if they included a system for restricting weapons and asked if i was right he just responded ";D" so, I'll take that as a yes.
Ha, cool.
I dunno about Comp, but I've never seen anyone stunned for 20 secs. Maybe 7-9 but never as long as 20 seconds.
Long distance hits can stun players for 30 seconds.
i have a comp player on my friends list he's the kind of person who goes "pub players r fucken scrubs" that's where people are getting it from
I've got a few people like that on my friends list, and yeah, they're all nobodies in the competitive scene.
theres a couple comp players on my friends list. they're p chill guys we go around stacking pub servers and griefing. its fuckin hilarious.
I still say it would be better if half competitive players and half normal players tested it. Then at least the opinions would be more balanced. If they add class limits as default to TF2 I'm uninstalling it. Unless it is some new competitive gamemode, then I don't give a damn.
Long distance hits can stun players for 30 seconds.
I was testing sandman stun the other day with bots, I hit a bot at the other end of Orange and it was 15 seconds, what kind of maps do you play on?

The amount of speculation in this thread is astounding. Valve has not spoken a word about anything being implemented into the normal game. It might just be a completely different mode strictly for competitive players.

IT'S A GAMEMODE FOR THE COMPETITVE PLAYERS. why the fuck would you let pubbers test it?
WHY?! for fucks sake. IT'S A GAMEMODE FOR THE COMPETITVE PLAYERS. why the fuck would you let pubbers test it?
Learn to read. "Unless it's a competitive gamemode".
Learn to read. "Unless it's a competitive gamemode".
Oh i learned to read quite some years ago, but if you read the thread you would have known that it doesnt make changes to the normal pub at all. So YOU learn to read.
calm down.
Oh, wow, just wow, facepunch has yet again proven their epic "knowledge" of competitive tf2. I know pretty much everything taking place so far but i heard they still need robins permission to talk about it. There is no NDA so they are not getting to test major updates like weapon unlocks and stuff (this is done by employees) they are only testing ingame changes to balance weapons like how to make FAN less gay, sandman usable, auto fast fire, autoreload, Bug testing, performance changes and so on. only ~150 competitive players got it, that includes really helpful people and some whiny assholes but they all know the game really well... Valve will cooperate with them so stuff works in pub and competitive. Before you whine about competitive community being minor remember who got CS so big and who are only players to show off tf2 in lan partys ? Valve alone make good changes... for pubers, they NEED feedback from competitive players to satisfy both communities...
calm down.
You don't tell me where to put my calm
o. sorry.
You don't tell me where to put my calm
Son, get back to the garage.
Son, get back to the garage.
Joke's on you, I took the garage with me.

6v6? Why not 9v9? That makes way more sense.
I don't understand whats going on. That is all.
6v6? Why not 9v9? That makes way more sense.
It exists. It's called Highlander and many leagues play it, but it's not as 'serious' as regular 6v6.
Plus getting 18 people together to play a game can be kinda hard, you know? 12 is a bit more manageable.
new game mode 6v6 soldiers only 2fort
