• How to play pyro, smartly

As soon as the enemy is ignited, i switch to the shotgun, to deal damage in case of near-by water or medkits, as most enemies cover or run away as soon as they're on fire. Aaaannnddd, airblast is the perfect tool to deal with uber pairs. Ambush them, Cblast, set them on fire.
Or he could try doing some damage, and burn them first, then airblast them away and shotgun. Pushing people around accomplishes nothing.
I mean putting people out, reflecting grenades and stickies away from sentries, bouncing spies around(so they don't backstab teammates) Also bouncing ubers away, don't forget that.
Axetuinguisher. Some people defend the axe mightily, ignore them, they're crazy.
This guy must be a fucking psycho then.
This guy must be a fucking psycho then.
he is playing against noobs =/ that one soldier shot two rockets at him instead of the ground to prevent airblasting. baaad
The pyro is a unique class, sometimes incredibly easy, other times incredibly hard. Like many of the 'noob' classes (medic, engy, spy to some degree) he has a quadratic difficulty curve.
That was enough for me... why is the Spy a n00b class? He is the most complicated one, especially with Pyros like you around...
How is any class a noob class? You have to have a strategy no matter what you play.
flame + airblast + axetuinguisher = win
Learning to airblast at close to mid range is one of the most valuable skills a pyro can have. Soldiers and demomen just won't stand a chance... Especially soldiers. I'm just having a hard time adjusting to DH soldiers. Any regular soldier will pretty much always get at least his first rocket sent right back into his face as long as they don't have abnormally slow reflexes, but I haven't yet gotten used to the timing needed to reflect a DH rocket at close range.
How is any class a noob class?
I actually consider soldier an easier-to-pickup class than the pyro, because he can unleash massive amounts of damage from pretty much any range, while pyro can only do decent damage at melee range.
Still doesn't make it a noob class. Eventually you'll have to hone your skills at soldier in order to take on more experienced players.
axtinguisher is awesome for taking down soldiers and demomen and heavies but it is a waste of time with 125 hp classes; you can burn them faster than it takes to bring out the axe. also i can recall plenty of times as a spy when i got away from a pyro trying to axtinguish me simply because another teammate covered my ass, or because i managed to squirm out of melee range and shoot him. as for the secodnary weapon choice i almost always use the shotgun because having the flare gun makes fighting another pyro extremely uncomfortable. i always find it far and beyond better to poof them up against a wall and shotgun them down rather than do that gay little flamethrower circlestrafe thing to each other.
I always use the axetinguisher on enemy pyros. Hasn't failed me yet.
Heh, i remember when i first started playing TF2 as a Pyro, i used to think the compression blast covered the enemy in gas, making them take more damage from fire.
Airblast is the most versatile thing ever. You can deflect rockets, save yourself from a surprise heavy around the corner, break up ubers, destroy sentries with their own rockets, stop anyone from moving as long as you have ammo, and basically control the enemy's movement however you like. Oh and Axis, I use the flare gun, and when going against another pyro, I usually keep track of where medkits are so when he's busy flaming me I can grab it and win the circlejerk contest
Uhm, you're frankly just wrong about flaming 1 on 1. If you can aim at all with the shotgun, 2 meatshots (you can get a meatshot actually a good meter beyond flamer range with lucky spread) is instant death. [editline]05:55PM[/editline] Also, rocket jumping with deflected rockets is fun. Your mass wasn't designed for rocketjumping so you go incredibly high.
Its like washing your hands Flame, airblast, shotgun, repeat
I always use the axetinguisher on enemy pyros. Hasn't failed me yet.
...what?
he is playing against noobs =/ that one soldier shot two rockets at him instead of the ground to prevent airblasting. baaad
No, no he's not. I've been on the same server he frequents. They're actually fairly competent.
I always use the axetinguisher on enemy pyros. Hasn't failed me yet.
You realize pyros can't be set on fire so the axetinguisher does the same amount of dmg to them as a pistol shot
Remember as Pyro you're the third fastest class, behind the medic and the scout.
And beside the Spy, Engineer and Sniper. Why would you even mention speed?
I always use the axetinguisher on enemy pyros. Hasn't failed me yet.
You are a true badass, sir.
W+M1ing is perfectly acceptable, nothing is more effective against a clump of unaware enemies than rushing in and burning everything.
Stopped reading there, I always thought the point of tf2 was to kill and get objectives complete. Not "Lol I flamed you to death but died in the process." Also spy a noob class, What the hell are you talking about? Good Day sir!
What I do is set someone on fire, airblast them into the air then finish them off with the axtinguisher
That was enough for me... why is the Spy a n00b class? He is the most complicated one, especially with Pyros like you around...
He's one of the classes which is nigh useless in competitive or high end play. He might be damn fun, but he's much much harder to play than anyone else. hence the quotes around 'noob'. Medics are the exception on that list, but in competitive all they're expected to do is bounce around and avoid rockets. Charging into a group of enemies is something really stupid, Strength in numbers and what not, Over all it is really a move that inexperienced players make.
Easy on the airblast guys. You wanna know what happen in arena_nucleus? A pyro chased me as a spy (with invisible watch level 1), and at THAT VERY EDGE, I wanted to jump to my death, but that dumb (thank god) pyro airblasted me as i jumped. I flew straight to the medkit with 1HP, cloaked, and a soldier killed him. He cursed himself.
Thanks for specifying your invisible watch's level. We don't fucking care.
Axetuinguisher. Some people defend the axe mightily, ignore them, they're crazy.
You sound like a religious person.

I got one guy in midair with one too.
Thanks for specifying your invisible watch's level. We don't fucking care.
No, its because I wanted to let people know what watches I am using. How many invisible watch are there? Three. Dead Ringer could have extinguished me out so people would think i am dumb for attemping to suicide. Therefore, think.
That was absurdly lucky though
