If you were talking about me, yea it was.
Now if only we can airblast teammates, we can save them from falling down; or push griefers to their death.
On a side note:

Damn you powerchu. My post is so close to being in a screenshot :saddowns:
He's one of the classes which is nigh useless in competitive or high end play.
He might be damn fun, but he's much much harder to play than anyone else.
hence the quotes around 'noob'.
Medics are the exception on that list, but in competitive all they're expected to do is bounce around and avoid rockets.
I've seen Spies be effective in competitive play every now and then.
And Medic is damn hard to master, and in competitive teams the Medic is usually the team leader and is making the plans for the team as the battle goes on.

Axetuinguisher. Some people defend the axe mightily, ignore them, they're crazy.
But the axe IS a good weapon. No melee weapon (Except for the Equalizer) is an upgrade at all. The axe is useful on maps where there are 1 or two Pyros and/or water plays a part of gameplay, like Well.
But you can outburn pyros, and the shotgun is much more effective underwater.
And I've used the axtuinguisher on underwater targets a few times.
Very satisfying.

Ubersaw?
Ubersaw?
I've heard a few arguments for the bonesaw that make sense. The 20% faster swing speed is useful on defense where you're less likely to need an Uber and more likely to need to have a higher DPS. There's also using it with the Kritz, since the Kritz charges so Goddamned fast it's not even funny.
My tactic as pyro is; Burn them for maybe a second and retreat while firing my Shotgun back at them. I love to hear the Ding Ding Ding sound, then I get the notification that they died of the afterburn

Unreliable. I never get kills on soldiers or heavies like this, considering the puff and after does about 75 dmg total and the two shotguns, if I'm lucky with spread, 40 each.
I prefer going all flames or flamer/flaregun/axe (axe is better versus unaware pyros and soldiers than you think.)
OP thinks I'm crazy.
I ain't crazy! :tinfoil:
Ubersaw?
Slower firing speed. That 20% is the difference between life and death.
And as Lijitsu said, You're better off with the Bonesaw when you go with the Kritzkrieg.
Of course, now I never use the Bonesaw. The Ubersaw has the taunt kill. No taunt kill means I never use it.
As pyro, I tend to use the flare gun as a primary weapon, and take out my flamethrower when I'm facing a soldier, or going into a small enclosed space. I try to have a rule of flaming for no more than 1ish second at a time, because playing against m1+w is just annoying.
Turn your mouse sensitivity right up. Realisticly, you don't need to be terrible accurate as heavy.
I turn my mouse sensitivity up when I play FaN scout. :downs:
No I'm serious, it helps alot.

Heavies is just a clusterfuck without a medic/crits/noob heavy/luck anyway.

Yeah, thank god you have that edge when using the games shittest weapon.

Uh, what? 1 second of flame + axetinguisher = dead heavy. If they see you at all you're doing it wrong.
1 second of minigun fire = 500 damage.
Lets break it down.
Assuming a few things.
You burn the heavy before he spins and switch to axetuinguisher the instant you flame hits and as that happens he begins to spin...
First instant, time = 0, you ignite him and begin drawing the axtuinguisher.
At time = 1, your axetuinguisher swings and does 195 damage. He's now in 105 HP
At time = 1.16, he is spun up and begins doing damage.
At time = 1.8, you can swing again, however, at roughly time = 1.4 he has already done enough damage to kill you, leaving approx 0.4 seconds of time to compensate for his lag and any missed rounds.
And that's the best case scenario for the pyro.
Unless you make it that the heavy is mentally and physically retarded.
If the heavy is unaware, you'd land the second blow without a problem, not counting overheal. If he is aware, it comes down to 'can he aim?' or 'is it natascha?'. If yes to any of these, hope you like being flesh ribbon. On the rare occasion you two catch each other and are prepared, strafe strafe strafe. The tightened minigun cone makes it a bit easier to dodge up-close. A bit.
No you really don't, I've done loads of puff and stings and at best you can pull off a 1:1 kill death ratio against unaware heavies, it's mostly luck.
Backburner on the other hand, makes it a feasible kill.

I disagee. I've killed the heavy several times using the axtinguisher.
In this scenario you're saying that you're standing still hitting him with it; you don't do that. You circle strafe him, so he's never quite able to hit you enough to kill you.

stop playing
Projectile reflects: They're more to protect you than to hurt enemies, dont use it as a primary weapon, if you hit them its just a bonus.
That isn't to say it's useless, it's just more effective to switch to flares and dodge.
Still airblast soldiers up close though, nothing nicer than reflecting a crocket before it leaves the rocket launcher.
From this point onward, reflected projectiles shall universally be known as "reflectiles".
Absolutely fucking agreed.
Updating OP.
Funfact is that both axtinguisher and flare gun effects (crit and minicrit accordingly) are set to function when target is set on fire.
Even pyros are set on fire while flamed on, but only for duration of actual flaming.
This means you can score Axtinguisher Crit or Flare Minicrit if your enemy pyro is being flamed on by another pyro from your team !
(Proved - own experience)
Rate clocks if mentioned. I need moar watches for craftin'

This is true, I first learned about it on a gold rush server when I managed to axetinguisher crit a Pyro. There is a small window, but its there.
Some people defend the axe mightily, ignore them, they're crazy.
If I equip the flare gun I'd usually go with the regular fire axe mainly because it should be necessary to have an anti-pyro/ underwater weapon. Even on maps without water, you should always have a weapon to combat enemy pyros. When I get into flame battles with another pyro I usually come out of it with very little health. So I'd use the axe, if I wasn't using the shotgun/axtinguisher combo. Although the flamer does large amounts of damage up close, it is inaccurate allowing you to easily strafe around it and axe an enemy pyro.

If I'm up against a Pyro who has no clue as to what he's doing, I will often come out of the fight with more than half health.
Well, axe is not bad.
Axtinguisher rewards pyro for his job, setting people on fire.
It's true good ol rule of flamepoof + airblast + axtinguish works charms, but if you are able to kill enemies with bottle, shovel, kukri, bonesaw, fists or bat (etc) you probably know when and how to utilize basic melee weapon, that axe truly is.
In my case, I did use Axtinguisher for a long time, but I realised it let me down more often than rewarded. If I set people on fire , then they are usualy aware of my presence and will react with flee/shoot. I am experienced melee fighter and I have stupid, useless, terribly annoying sense of honor, so when I equip my melee weapon I expect opponent to do the same and let us fight righteous duel without fancy stuff like setting people on fire or Bonk! , thus I often find myself willingly not set people on fire for the sake of fair play in said duel.
Guess who wins if I have axe covered in barb wire instead of real one ?
* + I am one of these guys who hates servers with "competetetetetive" stuff, so I play with mostly vanilla settings, like crits on, etc.

I'd like to think that at least a small minority of pyros aren't completely retarded :saddowns:
How to play pyro, smartly: Don't play it at all.
