My first hat drop (after over 200 hours of idling) was the glengarry bonnet earlier this week.
I had slowly been working my way up to 3 refined metals, and I finally got there about an hour ago.
I entered my favorite server and decided I would craft my awesome hat in front of my friends.
I put all of the metals in the crafting square and hit "craft."
I was promptly given another glengarry bonnet. [B]FFFFFFUUUUUUUU-[/B] :argh:
I said "fuck this shit" and crafted my two glengarry bonnets together to get the sniper's trophy belt.
Fuck the random system.
My story ;
1st hat : Tyrant's helm
2nd hat : Master's yellow belt
Crafted both for the Stainless pot
3rd hat : Stainless pot
Found a batter's helmet today, Since I don't like either, Crafted them together to get
My tyrant's helmet back :argh:

I know how you feel, this year is the only year I've gotten any sort of hats. After the classless update came out, Steam Cloud farted and my friends got upwards of 15 hats, while I had a mere trophy belt (which got taken away).
Most of idling, in my opinion, is just being around when the dice rolls - which means always being in a server. It doesn't matter how long you idle, it's just that if you know when the dice is gonna roll, you better be in a server.

Just put Achievement_idle in the map name and look at the tags.
Roughly 7 of them near Florida.
Trying this "trick" now in an idle server. If it works you are god. Nearly got my third refined for another hat.
I've been trying this "trick" in an idle server for nearly an hour, and so far, I have got zilch.
2 more refined until I get my Medic hat. :chef:

I finally got an item! It was the Chargin' Goddamn Targe.
Got an axtinguisher too. Think this might be legit, as odd as it seems. I've had very little success with idling lately before trying this.
