The achievement, yes. The hat could stay as just a "hey I participated in this event" type of deal. Now within 5 minutes of gameplay people get a ghastly gibus and suddenly every class on that account has it on. Valve really destroyed something that could of been good.
Said it before but the other day I saw a heavy without a hat, and it looked so strange to me as I had no idea where his gibus was.
Gibus is extremely frustrating for me now, because every class has one - I rarely see any classes with their original looks. I just want a skin that replaces the Gibus with the classes' original looks, so it wouldn't be like anyone had the Gibus in the first place.
