From my last visit while banned I see the Sentry Pistol was released.
Awesome.
Oh thanks for that I didn't realise I was unbanned, I'm working on a new snack for the heavy :)
(nobody leak it or you smell)

Actually I have a question. Does anyone here have any experience with Maya and DMX files? I could really use a hand.
That's because you're using Milkshape, give a 3DS Max trial a whirl.

Better yet let's do a riddle
WHAT DOES SCOUT CALL THE HEAVY WEAPONS GUY?
So, Idletard...
When are you going to finish those Class Specific Hat stacks?

"I am owning you, you fat, bald, fatty fat... fat fat!"
"Eat it, fatty!"

Here's a video of the WIP in action:

I'm going to release the beta on Pancake day (tomorrow!)
If I want to finish it, I'm going to need help, most likely from SuperAldo. I'll post a video of the problem when it's done uploading.
edit:
And HERE is why I'm calling tomorrow's release a beta:

I have a custom made VPK that makes you able to instantly drag and drop skins into the materials folder for L4D2 and they will work on versus, etc.
It's updated to work on the most recent L4D2 update.
It currently doesn't support Survivor Models or SI models for the fact it'd make you have to download placement files, but that would be rather easy to mod in.
The VPK itself bypasses both consistency and sv_pure checks because it replaces the files.
I'd imagine we could make a L4D emporium if it's popular enough.
Hey I actually got around to texturing it!

Now who knows how to make blood that doesn't look like it was applied with a spray can?

Use the regular blood decals or something.
Don't ask me any more, I don't skin. Basically, I'm just suggesting that and leaving you to find a way. Man, why did I even post this? I want a box.

I used my tablet.
[editline]04:50AM[/editline]
I started off with loads and loads of tiny brush strokes, then I filled in the gaps to make it look less scribbly with large brush strokes. Then I used logic to make the blood have drips and patches and look sort of... dried. So I set the brush opacity down low and drew blobs on top of each other. This is the worst description ever, so I'll just show you a pic. Also afterwards I tidied up with a mouse and used some in-built photoshop brushes to clean up everything.
Oh and I worked at a much higher scale than you see in-game, scaling it down when you're done hides a lot of imperfections.
Here's the texture:

Here it is with some notes and without the black mask that hides the brush strokes:

Here it is scaled down:

Unless of course you think my blood looks like it was applied with a spray can in which case :v:, I can't help you
Well unlike other textures in the game, the loadout/backpack menus rely on the icons to be exactly 128x128, or else they appear huge in the menu and go way outside of their boxes. That's why Valve made 128x128 versions of every default icon despite there already being 512x512 versions in the GCF (for use on the "item found" screen).
Unless you mean drawing them in even higher res to begin with, but that's just pointless since I'm going to scale them all down to 128x128 in the end anyway.
Have you tried the "vector" texture shader TF2 has?
You draw them at like 4,096x4,096, process them with vtex and a special flag that will scale them down to 128x128 or whatever, then in game you can scale them smoothly (they'll look fine at 128x128, 512x512, etc.)
The spy outline what shows up when you cloak or decloak uses it, the source texture is like 128x128 but will display cleanly on a 1920x1080 monitor or whatever.

Ah ha, alrighty I see what I did wrong. I was using photoshop brushes myself but was going about it with the wrong strategy. Also, totally gonna jack your shade of red as mine keeps coming out too dark, brown, or looks like I murdered the kool-aid guy.
Shugo, I suggest that you make the hats, but the difference would be that they are colored.
Colored with their own colors or whole color based on rarity?
Just woke up. Had a shitty night.

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. I'll get there when I get there, though; there's still over forty weapons to do and I've only got six of them done. :P
I'd like to move on to the Pyro next, so I'm wondering which people prefer: the flamethrower's icon just like the kill icon is now (half of the flamethrower), or should I make the whole flamethrower? Keep in mind, if I draw the flamethrower's entire body, then it'll look really small when I stuff it all into the little 128x128 frame.
Hey guys, my friend is modeling a Gibus replacement, so I have 2 questions I would appreciate if you guys could answer. 1. Is it possible to make it so that a hat like Gibus doesn't fall of when you die, like the fro or jarate headband? 2. What happens to hats that stay on when killed, when you are gibbed? (For example: does demo head gib have demo fro?)

Do it so that it shows only the end of the barrel and the pilot light, because that's enough to show, and more than enough for backburner.

Try making both versions and people will decide.
But half of the flamethrower should be enough IMO.
So, Idletard...

Well, modelling on those is not going well. My motherboard was frying itself, half my USBs were shutting down for no reason at random intervals, and that makes hard to work on something that needs a keyboard, a mouse, or both, and I was being too lazy to move everything I got to my other pc.
The great news is that finally I got it sorted out, so this night I'll have sniper done, hopefully, since I don't really know in what direction go with the texture for the elephant gun and I'm going to put in on hold for a few days.

Only if you use BASIC.
