3DS Max 2010 seems to be most preferred. Source SDK is mostly needed to (de)compile models and using the Model Viewer.

I would try making a hat if source sdk downloaded faster than 600 bytes a second. :argh: I'm gonna mess around with google sketchup, then I'll move on to XSI for real releases... Anyone got some tips?

Tip: Don't sketchup.
