Tried to mimic the old texture as good as possible. Not that happy with the BLU version yet though.
you know valve won't implement this into the game by getting rid of the old one, as that would be cruel as fuck
but I'll definitely download this as a replacement mod

It looked slightly less shiny in the first pics, I liked that since it made it look more worn, a concept it seems you're trying to create.
Maybe I'm just imagining things though.

His new mask looks better, but the model itself still looks funky.
I have realized now that my main dislike with Daimao's old model... was the Length :P
Upon further inspection and comparison with his new mask, I notice the new mask goes further down, and thus looks a lot less weird than the old one.
Also... Daimao, does it look good in the same position as the other Welding mask when it is not down?
As mentioned before, I would not like the version of it that is constantly down as I like Engie's face :P
I didn´t know that the one that Valve released covered the face I didn´t see it in action, sorry =P
BTW your new replacement is way better than the other 2, I would be really happy if it gets in the game, but I don´t think so, so I belive I will DL it

The BLU version is great, I'd just make the logo a little more faded, match the RED one. Anyway, will you be submitting this to Valve? I think you should, see what happens. If they don't select it, no harm done, right?
Faded it out more, made the colour a bit more dark near the lower edge, added animations and sent it to Valve. Now the waiting game begins.

I definitely think you should submit it. Its obviously better, and it wouldn't be that dick of a move for Valve to replace the original... I could see them doing that actually. Either way it would be interesting to see what their reaction is.
