I have a GTS 250 and it runs perfectly fine
This. There is nothing wrong with a GTS 250, and I can run TF2 with everything maxed out. (default settings, not some high detail config). The one thing that is of worry is that it is now starting to get old, as you can now get a GTX 480. (250 was the last that were called GTS, then on are called GTX)
Don't buy the GTS 250. GTS 450's are just around the corner, i think theyll cost like 120 bucks but perform at pretty much HD4870 level
GTS250 is just perfect for TF2, it runs everything maxed at a smooth FPS
4850 is good enough, I play on max settings with 16:9 1080p resolution with a 4770 which as far as I know is pretty much the same, maybe a bit better.
What the fuck. the GTS 250 is on par with the HD 4850, the 4770 is the same as an 8800GT (which is 30% worse) go look at results before posting :colbert:
You can run it, hell, I can even run it with an Nvidia 6200 GeForce,512mb ram and other garbage.
You're missing the point. I said on a 1920 x 1080 resolution, not 800 x 600. ;/
You're missing the point. I said on a 1920 x 1080 resolution, not 800 x 600. ;/
GTS 250 is fine for that resolution, but it will lag during combat in maps with higher system requirements (such as Sawmill), so I'd recommend getting a smaller monitor, but if you can't it's still okay.
I think you should consider buying a 1GB graphics card, since you're going to play on a pretty big resolution. As far as I know, 512MB is enough if you play on resolution 1680x1050 and lower.
The GPU I suggested has 1GB RAM.
ITT; We post our specs (which we know can run TF2 with no trouble) and ask if it can run TF2.
I have GTS 250 and it runs TF2 smoothly on highest settings.
Since we are on the topic of system specs(and since i don't want to make a thread about it): Could anyone here tell me if i can at least run tf2 at a smooth 50-60 fps at 1920 x 1080p with this setup? I am eager to finally upgrade from my current shitty setup.
Silly, you need FAR more RAM than that to run TF2. Get an extra 16GB, just to be sure.
If you had 16 gb you could run the entire game folder in a ram disk That would be awesome
I have a 9600GT and a Q8200 and the game runs fine Remember, TF2 doesn't rape your GPU, it rapes your RAM and your CPU
