If you think it sucks, make something better! It would help the engineer drought and prove your point. Have you seen the videos? That thing looks really nice.
Yes, this post is dumb. Suggesting something is dumb

They didn't forget about my polycount entry, right? Right? :(
two primary weapons in that pack.
But yea, I also liked that pack a lot. That cannon ball launcher was awesome and has a unique projectile, something the LnL needs.
I'm rooting for you, that's an awesome pack
Crazy-G, the guy who made it, thought that the boots would replace the melee weapon, seeing as he thought they would work as sort of gunboats for demo. Meaning he'd have to have an explosive weapon to use it with.

Dat sexy shotgun
I think what they mean is "We haven't seen good buildings replacements".
There are tons of good weapon/melee/hat sets, but I've yet to see a good sentry or dispenser.
Either that, or they are modeled in such a way that it wouldn't make sense for them to implement. Like a sentry made to be a flamethrower, or to be mobile.

Mobile dispenser, sniper-sentry with longer range but can't be moved.
The first was a blimp thing that was in the first fake engie update iirc, and the sniper sentry was an unreleased (and unsubmitted one, I think) model.

Some of them are pretty cool.

That was honestly my favorite Engineer pack.
I don't see how they can say that there's a lack of resources when Engineer has plenty of packs here:
http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=74543
And if I recall correctly, Robin himself stated that there were plenty of Polycount packs submitted with high enough quality to be considered implementing.

No hard feelings, but I just dislike the pitchfork being attached to it. Aside from that, I didn't have any gripes, but that pitchfork annoyed me. It'd be as impracticable as the Direct Hit's scope: no one uses it, no one can use it. An Alt-fire for Engineer won't really work out because he's got that filled with building hauling, so the pitchfork seems like it is just there to be there.
We have our eyes on several quality Demo items that aren't melee oriented for future updates.”
Thank fuck

It would make for a nice melee weapon though..

I don't think there's anything outright wrong with having 2 primaries in a pack. And the boots would probably be very easy to implement and not require anything out of the ordinary.
And it's not like 2 items in the same slot breaks sets, because junkyard soldier is set to be released eventually and it had two secondaries.
It's nice seeing a pack like that without a melee weapon though. Demoman has enough sword based melees that adding enough one for the sake of adding the rest of the pack is just not good.
But Greenmarine also said the next batch of Demoman weapons would be explosive themed, so I doubt we'll see that pack for awhile, if ever.
I don't want to point out specific cases because everyone has different opinions, but i'm pretty fucking sure there's a couple complete packs that are equal if not better in quality to most in-game items.
And if the community isn't making new items, make them yourselves, Valve. The community is already giving weapons to half the classes, plus maps. Can't you make a couple items for a class that desperately needs them and gets (according to the email) "no love from modders/modelers"?

He just said they wouldn't give demo melee-centered weapons. They could give him a crossbow and a grappling hook for all we know.

Ewww no
Given the choice between the Candy Cane, Crit a Cola and GRU, versus whatever the heck the community makes, I'm going to have to say the community wins.

right, because those were the only items valve has ever made
that my friend, would be pure hell to put ingame.
I mean it disables and conflicts with nearly every animation for engie.
Do not get your hopes up for that.
That makes me very very sad
It be great if I could finish my wrench, but seeing as no one gives a shit about anything I do it's kind of hard.
right, because those were the only items valve has ever made
They were outside of updates focused on one class (and yes, the Uber update was focused on Medic)
I just don't see Valve putting any real effort into making an Engy pack, and we'd end up with GRU-esque weapons for Engy.

GRU is okay, but yeah the rest sucks. It seems the community does it's job better than professionals.

I'm guessing you're talking about the models and stats, i'm talking about models.
And given the choice between Valve's weapons overall and the Community's so far, i'm choosing valve. Same with hats. I mean, third community was horrid in terms of hats.
I think part of the problem also is, these ideas look excellent on paper, but implementing them in-game can be a nightmare for balance issues.
I think that's one of the reasons Valve made the baby sentry instead of creating a new machine altogether for the engineer to deploy. The baby sentry pretty much was a tried-and-true TF2 tactic (look for the lvl 1 sentry video on youtube) that they just implemented with a retouched building.

I knew from the start that the pitchfork would be controversial. When I submitted it I said I was okay with them making it purely aesthetic (it doesn't block the view that much as you would think) or they could delete it all together.

If they would decide to use it now, they could make it a style.

Outside of class updates, Valve's one-off weapons are pretty terrible looking, and even some class update weapons were kind of meh looking.

A lot of people don't go into the Emporium, so if that's the only place you posted progress pictures of it, a lot of people won't know about it.

Vanilla weapons count.
Id gladly make new engineer stuff if I even had just one bit of skill in modeling.
Vanilla weapons count.
No they don't
Besides, Scout's bat has clipping errors, Pyro's axe lacks team colors, etc
