The whole "There weren't enough submitted" argument is just ridiculous. That doesn't excuse the absolute ludicrous amount of weapons for the soldier. Oh and what about the pyro? There are a wealth of brilliant items that have been submitted, so that bothers me as well.

I like seeing new Soldier weapons, as he is currently my favorite class, but the entire multitude that they give him is ridiculous. I'd prefer more Engineer weapons overall, as his play-style is essentially the same with every weapon, excluding the Gunslinger, thus giving Battle Engineer's some sort of worth that actually pays off other than mindlessly spamming Shotgun like a blind-shitter, which is what Battle Engineer's did before the Gunslinger. Though I guess my sickness towards Demo weapons is 100% towards the fact that all but two of his weapons are geared towards Demoknighting. I myself Demoknight (With of course some Skullcutter/Sticky Launching), but you just can't beat the Eyelander, and they should have just stopped after the Skullcutter. I'd prefer many more Grenade Launchers. Valve has developed severe cases of Hat-itis, Demo-knighting, and Soldier-pleasuring.

I'm just not a fan of any of the "character-based" weapons, like the huntsman or the demoknight weapons. The bright pink and green hats I seem to keep seeing aren't helping either.

You know with all this Soldier bitching I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that Scout gets similar treatment Scout has got only 3 less weapons than Soldier (not counting promo reskins) and before the Uber update he actually had more

The Soldier gets new sets every time, and the Demo gets new melees every time. All the while, the Pyro has gotten a paltry number of everything, some of which is just a rehashing of the stuff he already had (Detonator), and the Engineer got a couple of interesting items once, and sporadically acquired two wrenches since. In the midst of all of this, the Scout, Spy, Sniper, Heavy, and Medic have all gotten a fairly reasonable amount of new content.
Pyro has lots of melee weapons.

[/QUOTE] And so does Scout. Almost every update that adds new weapons to multiple classes has included Scout, the only exceptions being the first 2 community contribution updates. Hell looking into it, the Grordbort's Pack is the only time Soldier has gotten an update that didn't include another class. It might actually see use if it applied both Bleeding + Burning on hit, but besides being a very modest consideration in ONLY Medieval Mode for the sake of applying a condition, it's never used. It's just so much easier to just spray your Flamethrower in the general direction of the enemy to light them on fire than to try to use your melee weapon to set them on fire. The fact that it does 20% less damage than even the never used vanilla Fire Axe is somewhat disconcerting. I do realize that is has to be balanced and be a sidegrade to the vanilla weapon, but I'd honestly rather use the Fire Axe over the Volcano Fragment any day of the week. I do more damage and because I have a brain I can apply burning with my Flamethrower anyways. Although of course, I'd prefer Axtinguisher to any Pyro melee item. Personally, I don't like how Bleeding melee weapons are used in the game, and I'd rather Pyro not get a bleeding melee weapon, but the Volcano Fragment as it is doesn't fit any kind of useful niche at all. It's nice that Pyro got a melee that can light enemies on fire, but as I said before, it's just so much easier to light enemies on fire with the flamethrower that the Volcano Fragment only ever sees rare use in Medieval Mode. Also, don't forget the fact that any Pyro with a brain will be using the Back Scratcher in Medieval Mode. +25% damage and +50% healing from medkits is amazingly good.

I just want a new Flamethrower thats got better afterburn mechanics. Maybe replace alt fire with a secondary oil stream that extends afterburn from a longer distance than the flames, and causes flames to mini-crit or harder to remove from liquids in jars and friendly airblasts.
