The problem is, Scarabix, why? I mean, whatever, they're ideas sure enough, but they're not terribly creative or interesting.
Oh, wow. Someone finally explained it. see, it's not that hard to explain?
Hipsters didn't exist in the 50s. The Heavy isn't similar to a hipster.
Obviously he was a hipster before it was cool. /badjoke
wait... being a hipster is cool?
In the mind of a hipster, yes.
Dat clipping and anti-analising.
That was going to be my next project, heh. Gonna model it anyways.
1st model Before After Anyone want to help me get this into the game? I tried but i seemed to have done soehting wrong.
of course hipsters didn't exist in the 50s. but neither did the frontline field recorder and the earbuds. Of course he isn't similar to a hipster at all. but neither is he an american native chief. I'm not saying your argument is invalid. I'm saying I already thought ahead and knew this would be a problem, but I decided to post my idea anyway. You're a cool guy. I hope you're only trying to be funny and not just mean.
Teleporters didn't exist in the 50's Mediguns didn't exist in the 50's Invulnaribiltiy didn't exist in the 50's Just because TF2 is set in that era doesn't mean it isn't possible. Cosmetics should stick in that time era, I agree, but c'mon. Saying it's ridiculous just because it's in the 50's backfires, alot

He told me the concept of hipster didn't exist in the 50/60's. And All I said is that the concept of health being fired through a gun didn't exist in the 50/60's. The concept (the idea) of invulnerability and teleportation, though, already existed back then.
A little competition always breads perfection.
I think you mean breeds. Otherwise that sounds like a tasty sandwich.
1968
Come to think of it, if TF2 were real-time, it would be 1972.
Hey anybody know what SNIPA and ColossalSoft ever did with the original versions of the weapons in their Black Market Business set? The originals looked better in my opinion. The Tomislav, Family Business, and Eviction Notice that we have now in TF2 are very bland. Cut those images out separately myself the other day for the TF Wiki. Now I'm using 'em for this. Does anybody know what happened to 'em?
The Black Market Brawler/Tomislav was dropped because of general problems with it, plus we had the idea of a tommy-minigun. The Russian Rampage/Family Business was changed because it made no sense. A tabasco sauce bottle on a shotgun? The Soviet Slammers/Eviction Notice were changed because... Well... Look at them. The more you know. (also the models are gone)
Requesting Parappa the rapper beanie and ears for all class or just some.
That would be kinda cool.
Come to think of it, if TF2 were real-time, it would be 1972.
If the Simpsons was real time then Bart should be 30. Worst logic ever. It's not real time for a reason :)
If the Simpsons was real time then Bart should be 30. Worst logic ever. It's not real time for a reason :)
I think it more depends on the map then anything else and I wouldn't be suprised if valve allowed people to have some creative freedom with it. Plus IIRC we're basing it off a single calander model in the game, which is used in one or two maps?
Note the fat, ugly "if"
it's not fat, you'd better bold it next time.
Valve states on the contribute guidelines page that tf2 is set somewhere in the 60's.
It's based off the 1960's theme. Though medieval mode is the main contradiction to that in a sense. I'm saying we don't have to be hell bent on THIS ALL HAPPENS IN 1968 or whatever it is on that calander and we can go backwards/forwards slightly in time to like early 1960's/early 1970's as long as it doesn't stray too far from the 1960's Spy-fi feel that TF2 was built around.
Then why aren't they all doing drugs and unprotected sex while dancing to disco music
Medieval is a Renaissance fair
Then why aren't they all doing drugs and unprotected sex while dancing to disco music
because that is stereotypically 1970's I said in my post :
as long as it doesn't stray too far from the 1960's Spy-fi feel that TF2 was built around.
[editline]22nd August 2011[/editline]
Medieval is a Renaissance fair
Which is why I said in a sense, it isn't the traditional theme of TF2 though, is it? I'm not saying it isn't in the 1960's, it just doesn't have the spy-fi theme most other maps have.

Guys, guys, c'mon! TF2 obviously takes places millions of years in the future, where technology has advanced but general style has reverted to the 1960's. Just look at the Deus Ex stuff! /SPUFmode now shut your mouths and make purdy mods
