Hey, feel free to have a go at it! I'm glad it's good enough for people to want to model it. I'm not really experienced enough to go trying to model it myself yet.
However, I would like to ask if I could have a go at texturing it myself when one of you gets around to modelling it. You don't have to use my texture if it turns out to be not-very-good, but I'd still like to try. Texturing's something I don't think I'm awful at!
While I'm on the topic of modelling and texturing, this is my first "finished" item:

It's not the best, but I'm pretty pleased with it! That's 3 paintable styles, each affecting the lenses. It doesn't clip with most hats, and when it does clip it's only minor and towards the rear of the strap. The only hats it badly clips with are the obvious suspects (most hats that cover his eyes and anything with its own strap), and oddly enough the Mountain Cap. I guess it's cos the cap is a tight fit.

That is a damn fine hat. My only suggestion is the lens color, IMO needs to be something else other than grey. Maybe make them slightly transparent to see the brown of the hood underneath?

It's gray right now as a place holder. The original plan is to make it with envmap but still contemplating on it for optimizational reasons. Also noticed how the metal parts look too white.

Can you try a darker leather version?
Not sure which one to go with. Would prefer to do both but even after some optimization it would still be a bit too high of a polycount for a misc. item.

(all that was done was the top white sleeve was pulled down a bit on hecates request, there was some confusion on what was wanted, but we got things sorted out, and theres no more clipping on that part of the shirt :D)
