I'd really love a torch-gun thing for Engie.
And I mean officially in game. God damn, I can dream.

You know, there's a reason the smoke particles have so little alpha, and don't last long. I couldn't already see shit with one soldier roaming around, let alone 3 to 4.
This is why I couldn't make any more progress with my nuke particle effects for the rocket launcher and stickybomb launcher. The particles stayed too long, and they where thick as shit. That's what a nuke is too, but it just doesn't work in tf2 because you can have 5 explosions in a second, all in different places.

I was experiencing that at first as well. I pretty much solved the problem by making them have relatively short lifetimes. In all the playing I've done, rarely have I felt the effect to be particularly obstructive.
The Source engine's VMTs supports something called is called a $selfillummask. It basically is a black and white image with no alpha that tells what to illuminate and what to keep dark. The whiter it is on the mask, the more lit it is. It works the same as a $basetexture command:
"$selfillum" "1"
"$selfillummask" "<location>"

Yeah, just like that.
You're telling me to basically scrap an entire week's worth of progress just because you say so, how is telling me to scrap a project helping me in anyway, quitting a project never helped anyone, especially since you're telling me relearn anything nullifying the "learned something" argument.
I'm a bit late but I wanted to post this anyway. A week's worth of work is nothing if people don't like it. This pack took me two months. I had no solid concepts or ideas for what I was going to do when I jumped into it and I learned some valuable lessons. Sometimes you need to step back and realize when to just scrap something in favor of something better.
This is including the times I completely redid the texture or made a major change to the model. Not everything's pictured because I don't have pictures of every change I went through. Point is I listened to people's criticisms and changed shit that people didn't like. And when something wasn't working out I scrapped the thing entirely and redid it. In the end it made the pack better and everyone's feedback helped to make it the best I could make it.

I was feeling artsy when I made this. Enjoy my shitty artistic composition.
I've finally learned to make models, so i'll post here my first three models:
A new scatter (not tecnically my model, since i joined many parts of the shotgun with the scatter and i did only a bit of editing)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvpctPsAS6o&feature=channel_video_title
The Ranch's dog
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgtBueSEQGk&feature=relmfu
..And my last one

The Maniac's cutters
Do they look good as first models?
Oh i forgot to tell you that i'm an amnesia fan, so...it had to be done

Why isn't this in the OP?

Does this work for alpha, as well? I would assume it would be as follows.
"$alpha" "1"
"$alphamask" "<location>"
I looked into it real quick, and $alphamask doesn't appear to exist. This shows that $alpha does have some type of function, but I've yet to test it yet.
