Glad to see they got some idea's going around but there's one this that bugs me.
They talk about teamwork and class roles. but they did this

In what way does that make the demoman, a fucking demoman.

Think outside the box for a moment. He's a "Demo" man, as in "Demolitions," as in "he breaks stuff." Explosives are the usual connotation, but there are other ways to break things.
For example, if there's a group of defenders holding a front line, but then a crazy swordsman charges in and cuts off their heads, that line has been broken.
wow valve doenst even care about WTFCLVE
So glad they didn't put in that repair node, would've been op'd.

It provides an alternate combat style that is more focused on the players than the buildings, letting him demolish an enemy player when he gets to them. Which is better than spamming grenades inaccurately at long ranges and hoping they're stupid enough to stand on top of them. Or worse, fucking sticky spamming.

The most common definition of demolition is "destruction or demolishment by explosives".

–adjective
5. of, pertaining to, or working with explosives: A demolition squad attempted to blow up the bridge before the enemy captured it.
(the first four definitions do not apply, because they are noun forms and "demolition man" uses it as an adjective)

My point stands. Just because explosives are the most common definition does not mean that they are the only or most valid definition.

Ok so wheres the guy who's suppose to be area denying? There is already classes that are built around breaking attacks, TF2 did not need a sword n board retard who is in it purely for his own score and not defending / attacking the point, he serves no unique role and he lost the one thing that made him a valuable team member.
An engy without a Teleporter, a medic without the medi gun, a sniper without the sniper ect ect, there's thinking outside the box and then there's breaking a class role completely.
Engineer thread has turned into Demoman thread.

No it doesn't. You might as well call the spy a demoman because he destroys buildings, or call the scout a demoman because he demolishes enemies with his scattergun, or call a medic a demoman because he demolishes enemy advances by pushing through with an ubercharge, or call an engineer a demoman because he can demolish a sapper with his wrench and destroy his own buildings by remote, or call the heavy a demoman because he uses his stomach acid to destroy the constructions known as sandviches.
By your definition, every class in the game is a demoman.
Yeah sword and shield was a shit idea guys let's go back to talking about the Engie.
[editline]02:11PM[/editline]
But yeah Loofiloo hit the ball on that one.
But the same logic also applies to the 'explosives' definition. The Soldier makes people explode, so he's a Demoman. The Spy makes Sentries explode, so he's a Demoman. The Pyro reflects projectiles, often making them explode, so he's a Demoman. The Sniper throws a jar of piss that explodes... and so on and so forth.
But this really isn't the place for this argument. Targelander Demo is fun to play and that's all I need to know. Besides, when you're using it the grenade launcher basically becomes your primary weapon, so it's not like you're devoid of explosions.
grenade launcher is always the primary

at least it's suppose to be

It's in the first slot, but according to the loadout, the sticky launcher/SR/Targe is the primary.
Glad to see that they are at least working on the Engy update. I'm very excited to see what they have for us.

Not that this keeps people from thinking that sticky spam is effective.

Seeing as what they are doing now, for now they will only show us their FAILED experiments.
Everything else will be revealed later, I guess.
Not that this keeps people from thinking that sticky spam is effective.
Well, it is effective.
I'm glad they decided not to replace the teleporter. Attacking team withoud teleporter is like 90% fail, depends how balanced the teams are.
I wonder if they're going to acknowledge the backburner and razorback as items that have become detrimental to team play as well. Some people look down on those BB pyros because they don't use the airblast, a function that can extinguish flames and keep the ubers away and protect people from projectiles, and jarate is an item that helps your teammates get kills or extinguishes them. Even the SMG is more helpful than the razorback, an item that literally does nothing more than cover your own ass.
They seem to acknowledge how much people would hate to be playing with an engi who is more concerned with keeping his buildings alive than helping his team, so why don't they acknowledge the flaws in some of these other items?

So when the game first came out with no updates the Pyro wasn't a team player, now he has the compression blast he is?
So when the game first came out with no updates the Pyro wasn't a team player, now he has the compression blast he is?
He's a lot more of one now.
I mean, in the example that the blog post gives, combat medics are still technically playing for their team, but their teammates don't like them as much as medics who stick to the job of healing people and using ubercharges strategically.
It's not a matter of 0 and 1, non-team-player vs. team player, but different levels of team helpfulness. Pre-update pyros and BB pyros help the team, sure, but not nearly to the degree that airblasting pyros do.

Depends, for example if my team mates are facing a large group of people which includes a medic, it's more helpful for me to have the BB as I can go round to the back of them, "W+M1" though them getting some crits then returning to my teammates. The enemy is now on fire meaning that it makes the fight easier on my teammates.
ANYWAY, yay valve for testing etc.
The number of situations where the airblast is more useful is far greater than the number of situations where the backburner is more useful. The ability to negate or severely hinder ubercharges alone makes it drastically more valuable to the team.
But I shouldn't even have to say this. It's been common knowledge since the backburner's health nerf that it's shit.

Even if they acknowledged them as detrimental items how would they fix them? It's not like they can just remove them.

Too bad the in-game slots have been around a lot longer than the loadout screen has.
speaking of teamwork if they like teamwork so much why the hell did they make the Equalizer! GOD it's the opposite of the medic update"DER MAYDICK STOP HEALING ME I HAAVE EQULIZER"
Valve is very busy recently, I must say. I love them even more for their effort and support for the community.
I must admit at first with out reading the article and just purely looking at the model i was thinking some form of spy-dar which would of made a spy complete useless, so I'm glad it wasn't when i went on to read the article I'm glad it got scrapped but a very nice model none the less good to see it wasn't some cheap change like Natasha and so on. Personally i hope they bring out something simple for him as one of the items like to hold more metal or something small like that. Not exactly overpowering him but not exactly useless for him, not all 3 things have to be major.
