Because.
5 reasons to hate 2fort: 1. A single sentry can cover both entrances into the intel entrances. 2. The spawn is RIGHT next to the intel hallway entrances. 3. Snipers. Snipers e'rrywhere. 4. Even if you manage to get the intel, the likely hood of the intel getting captured is unlikely, the reason being reason #2 5. A large part of 2fort servers are 32 player, insta-respawn servers. Good luck finding anything resembling teamwork, and anything not resembling deathmatch.
All my friends bug me for playing on insta-spawn 2fort servers all the time, but I have the most fun on there compared to if I play any other map. :v: Guess I just really love deathmatch. [editline]1st September 2011[/editline] Not to mention it's ridiculously easy to defend as Pyro, even more if you use the Backburner.
...the symmetry doesn't help it stay interesting either (which is a problem with all the CTF maps in my eyes, but at least it is balanced).
Vikings does it pretty well I think. It can become a deathmatch, but if teams actually try to capture the intel it does make a good CTF game. Matter of fact, it makes a good deathmatch.
Not to mention it's ridiculously easy to defend as Pyro, even more if you use the Backburner.
Exactly why it's Spy hell.
I like 2fort under the following conditions: Regular respawn times 24 Players MAX (Preferred is 12-20 current players) No RTD No class limits (Teams should learn by themselves if they have too many players of a certain class)
No class limits (Teams should learn by themselves if they have too many players of a certain class)
That doesn't work, they'll learn that having seven engineers never fails or that six heavies and five medics can push through a defense.
The base 6 maps are all cramped and slightly claustrophobic, IMO.
The base 6 maps are all cramped and slightly claustrophobic, IMO.
Probably because TF2 was originally intended for like 12-18 players, right?
2fort is a great map for some fun, and frags. just spam fire and get 100 kills.
Probably because TF2 was originally intended for like 12-18 players, right?
It was actually designed around 18-24 players. Having imbalances in a 25+ player server is the fault of the player concentration and not of the maps.
I love 2fort.
Because this:
I like it because it has things to do for all playstyles, and it's not as "serious" as other maps because it's harder to lose for both of the teams.
2fort's alright, but i prefer dustbowl
I play on instant-respawn 24/7 2Fort servers when I'm in the mood to practice sniping or for just killing things.
I'll tell you why I don't like it, the gamemode and something about the map layout encourage going commando rather than teamwork. If people weren't so impatient it would be easier to play on, but as it stands, you can never get a decent game because there's always so many players playing for themselves and not the team, or just generally being really shit at any kind of strategy. [editline]2nd September 2011[/editline] I also hate the fact that even though TF2 is a great team game, and it's designed to be a great team game, people associate "The 2Fort Experience" with it.
Would anyone be interested in a classlimits 2fort match with 9 players on each side? Could be fun.
Because I managed to win the round as a medic dat blutsauger.
Would anyone be interested in a classlimits 2fort match with 9 players on each side? Could be fun.
You mean highlander?
Would anyone be interested in a classlimits 2fort match with 9 players on each side? Could be fun.
As I said on the first page, a highlander-style class limit with a small enough player congestion and default spawn times makes 2fort a lot more bearable than what is normally seen in 2fort servers.
I play 2fort when i feel lazy to move around often
2fort is a mixed bag for me. Its got some TERRIBLE chokepoints. One Engineer...just ONE can create a stalemate against a mediocre to good team, based on how good he is and if he knows where to put his stuff. But its small size and symmetrical design I guess help people learn the basics of the game. In fact the map encourages you to Ubercharge a LOT to get past the heavy defenses.
Would anyone be interested in a classlimits 2fort match with 9 players on each side? Could be fun.
I would fucking love that, I've been wanting to try out highlander though I'm perfectly fine if it was like 12 players so that we could diversify a bit.
