• Spy is the most pointless class in Team Fortress 2
Remind me again why we're still posting in a crappy thread that is comparable to the stuff on SPUF?
Because of never ending rants about something being overpowered/underpowered/class that they suck at/class that they think they are overpowered/underpowered
My friend was just pitching in on some ground breaking ideas to improve the spy:
That will just be as bad as halo reach, when you throw gernades or shoot back.
I love playing spy with the kunai. It gives a hard class even more difficulty, because the kunai is just high risk, no reward. If you do happen to backstab someone at full health, your health caps off and starts draining down at 175. Not to mention the fact that if you stab someone, you're coming out of cover. Once you're out of cover, you have to strike and take down an opponent, because if you miss even once and blow it, you're fucking dead. 60 health is just about enough to get killed by most melee weapons, not to mention most primaries in one hit. But, with all of that being said, I like the spy's gameplay. I always choose one person to follow for my life, and follow him until he is completely alone. Then, based on the people he is in contact the most, disguise and strike. Shit's so cash.

Why oh why has this thread not been locked?
When I'm up against good spies, it usually becomes, "OH GOD I'M GETTING STABBED DOWN ALL THESE STAIRS."
He has a point. There's a reason we rarely see Spies in competitive play. Remember the Pubs vs Pros tournament? OMFGninja was on the Pubs side. His best play across all of the games was backstabbing their Medic and immediately attempting to shoot down a Soldier. The Pros recovered quickly. [editline]4th September 2011[/editline] Though the Spy is hella fun in normal play. It's my third most played class.
We rarely see Spies in competitive play because they simply can't stack up against the capabilities of the soldier/scout/demo. Spies can be deadly effective if they're only played for a life or two at a time, their main weapon would be surprising their targets.
I COMPLETELY agree with OP, and Pyro should be removed as well because not only is he what counters the spy but he doesn't have a meet the video!
I COMPLETELY agree with OP, and Pyro should be removed as well because not only is he what counters the spy but he doesn't have a meet the video!
So.. You're gonna buy Battlefield 3?
not possible. 450 will kill anyone.
Sometimes it glitches and the medics heal triggers at the second the shot "hits" and he survived with the amount of heal he is recieving [editline]12th September 2011[/editline] oh wait fuck i had no idea this thread had so many pages
images
Hah, check this out: IM SO USELESS I SHOULD IMMEDIATELY SWITCH CLASSES AND GO SNIPER
I topped the 24/7 coldfront protf2.com server for both teams for a round as spy. Sap stabbed and stabsapped plenty of sentries and engys. I made the heavys and snipers cry. Not useless.
Some spies are valuable to the team.
uh if you're going to try and show off don't use a picture of a 35 kill to 36 death ratio
uh if you're going to try and show off don't use a picture of a 35 kill to 36 death ratio
While kill ratios are usually a stupid way of measuring success or skill I have to agree with you there. That means he either got exactly one to two kills every life or he died a lot and had small spaces where he got lots of kills.
You're both idiots. 1) Not impressive scores. 2) Valve server/nightteam. 3) Neither of you are even half decent at spy. Now stop trying to brag. You look stupid.
If you have good tactic then Spy is very good!
as a career spy all I can say is that you're wrong. as long as you stay just ahead of the curve, just behind the action, my actions as a spy are if anything the most useful in the team. if spychecks are such an issue (which, to be honest, they rarely are), you just need to alter your playing strategy to spend more time totally invisible, rather than disguised (running backgrounds like a dumbfuck). It is possible for the other team to render the spy mostly useless, but that hardly ever happens.
Some spies are valuable to the team.
>Valuable to team >1 destruction
And a negative KDR, and a fast respawn nightteam.com server - I think it's a joke?
score is not the equileant of how much you are helping your team.
I COMPLETELY agree with OP, and Pyro should be removed as well because not only is he what counters the spy but he doesn't have a meet the video!
You're 10 years old what would you know.
Your 10 years old what would you know
*You're If you're gonna make fun of him you can't be flawed.
Tbh, the spy's backstab tricks are easily countered by knowing them. Stairstab? Don't keep walking up the stairs and wait for the spy to jump down.
score is not the equileant of how much you are helping your team.
I agree, but when I have a high score it's because I eliminate high value targets through backstabs. (Heavies, Medics, Snipers who keep sniping guys on our cart in Payload, Medics)
Tbh, the spy's backstab tricks are easily countered by knowing them. Stairstab? Don't keep walking up the stairs and wait for the spy to jump down.
Trickstabs rely on ignorance or lack of good judgment. It's easy to catch good players off guard with some really creative overhead stabs. Spies who brag about topping the scoreboard are stupid.
This thread isn't dead yet?
Thanks for giving it a small shot of life. edit: I was going to delete this for being the single worst pageking in known history but it doesn't seem to want to let me do that. Have a picture of why I hate this game sometimes. Damnit, upon further inspection I seem to have wiped my screenshot folder recently. I had a shot of the scoreboard when my team had six other people go spy after me. I was much less than happy. I'm tapped. So sorry. Ignore this post, just as you should ignore this moronic goddamn thread. I need to brush my teeth, good night and good luck.
Like the title said. Spy is the most pointless class in Team Fortress 2. His impact on the game is so minimal that if you removed him from the game, nobody would notice. 1. Spy is completely hampered by enemy competence Even if you were the world's best Spy, if the enemy team had an ounce of intelligence and constantly checked their backs and called out Spies whenever they saw them, all your skill invested into the class would be for naught. A Spy is too squishy and relies too much on a dumb opponent to make the best out of his potential. Pyros, Spy's natural enemy and hard counter require minimal skill to work well and a Pyro operating on minimal skill is enough to shut down veteran Spies. This brings us into the next point ..... 2. Spy's skill:reward ratio is completely skewered The skill required for a Spy to excel is insanely high. The time invested into him could be better placed into another class such as Soldier and Demoman. Even if you were a good Spy, luck and basic situational awareness on the enemy team's part would be enough to waste you. 3. There is nothing Spy can do, any class can't do better Spy was designed to spread paranoia into the enemy, assassinate priority targets and slow down enemy advancement. The design and concept was interesting but the execution was horrible on Valve's part. Taking out priority targets? Scout and Sniper can fare much better. Spread paranoia and panic? When the enemy team has half a brain and a Pyro worth his salt, that so-called panic will all but evaporate from the enemy team. Sapping sentries? The effort is, to say the least, too much for such a simple task. Why spend minutes sneaking into the enemy base, jumping at shadows and avoiding enemy hostiles before sapping the buildings only to have all your time wasted by a crit wrench and a couple of whacks ruining all your hard work? Soldiers and Demoman can simply exploit the sentry's blind spots and finish it off faster, quicker and easier than a Spy. To sum up, Spy was a fun concept Valve built but the execution was flawed. Spy should either be removed from the game completely rather than sit as a waste of player slots or Valve should buff up the Spy to be on par with his fellow mercenaries.
This thread needs to be locked.
Then they either just ate some chocolate or the sniper didn't hit their head. Because surviving a fully charged headshot is practically impossible. I said fully charged headshot, mind you. An overhealed heavy has 450 HP. A fully charged headshot deals exactly 450 damage.
Ummm. The hibernating bear set will lower the damage that a headshot does form 450 to 427.
