They could make old series of crates worth a bit more.
For example giving them a higher chance of any listed item being strange. Or maybe just a few chosen crates. Or just series #2.
Could be any incentive tho, not just strange weaponry. Two items drop instead of one, a chance you can use the key twice, the crate can drop /anything/ not just what was listed on it, list can be expanded to infinity and beyond.
If there's a chance of certain crates becoming unpredictably valuable sometime in the future, it could change the market position and increase demand.
Could make people happy that sit on piles of crates and don't want to buy keys, depending on what incentive Valve uses.

Crateception sounds pretty good actually. Have a crate that unlocks for strange crates, and also has a chance to drop Unusual Earbuds (With an effect to replace the music. Scorching Buds, pretty metal), which will, inevitably, become the new designer currency. You guys worry about prices going down for Unusual Crates, but those would just bring it back to normal levels.
Or destroy our made-up economy. That might also happen.
