Maybe you should stop sucking as scout you failure.
I've never really noticed the 30 HP loss ingame. The thing is that as a scout, you're supposed to be vulnerable and the only way to avoid it is with your quick reflexes or double jump.
This thread is full of boxes! Oh, and while I'm not super-butthurt one way or the other about the sandman, a little bit more health would be nice, since scouts are supposed to counter Demomen, and demomen now kill scouts with ease (splash damage, aka: aiming is for chumps :x)
I don't actually play scout often so I think it's just fun to irritate people by stunning them, fetching the ball, stunning them, etc.
This change is meant to make people change their tactics. If you're so fixed that you can't adapt to change, you're not even supposed to exist. Those able to change are those most able to survive. It is the guiding principle on which reality is based. In other words, we must adapt or perish.
Valve didn't nerf the right weapon. The Sandman is alright, and if you can't dodge the balls, then you deserve to be beaten up (this applies to übers too). Restore the Sandman and the FaN as they were before the update, and add the -30 health penalty to the FaN, now that would make the Scout more balanced and less fucking damn annoying.
Heavy is my main class and I love this nerf. Yesterday I got stunned by a scout and my minigun was spun up. Normally, I would have to spin it up again after the stun, but after the update it's still spinning :D So I ended up killing the scout after the stun thanks to my spun up gun. It was a really close call too, had 3hp left :smug: [editline]11:17AM[/editline]
if you can't dodge the balls, then you deserve to be beaten up (this applies to übers too).
My counter argument: Spun up heavy.
-30 HP? Didn't know that, but atleast I can be usefull with the scout again.
Probably because the Sandman is a ranged weapon? Further away from enemy = less damage taken.
Next sandman update: Clicking any mouse button while Sandman is equipped immediately causes the Scout to explode.
Any melee crit will kill a class below 200 health. (minus bats)
I can't dodge FUCKING EVERYTHING, and neither can you, hence: you die as a scout. And it sure isn't fucking helpful to die 1/4 faster, having 3/4 of the life you usually have. And most the shit that hits you and you proceed to 'lol dodge after' leaves you with what? 10 health? Pressing e as fast as you can? I don't get the luxury.
HOLY FUCK I DIED IN AN ONLINE GAME WHAT THE FUCK UNDERPOWERED CLASS. Do you play Team Fortress 2? Maybe you're not aware, you're going to die sooner or later. It's part of the game. I guarantee that asshole on the other end of your sandman is raging about being stuck for 10 seconds while everybody else fills him with bullets. Leaving him with what? Your Sandman is long range, use it appropriately. Dodge what you can, shrug when you die because it's going to happen and it's going to happen maybe a little bit more with that -30 health.
-25hp :eng101: repeat after me : -25 EDIT: Sorry, bad reading, it was actually 30hp. [sp]Also, OP is giving himself agree and dumb or what?[/sp]
The idea is that you take on a single enemy at a time by knocking out any stragglers and ending their life quickly. Remember how the damage taken while knocked out was increased. You're not supposed to run head first into the enemy like you usually would, each weapon has it's own play styles.
Easiest solution? Drop the sandman and go for the normal bat. I did it and never looked back. The sandman bat sucked anyway and the stun effect isn't really worth it (esp now it's lost it's ability to stun ubers)
I never even used the sandman to begin with either. I just couldn't live without the versatility of the triple jump. Now that I have a triple jump again, I might reconsider.
Any critical hit from a melee will kill you in one hit. Most regular attacks will kill you in 2-3, and crits nearly always 1-2.
Crits are supposed to always kill you in that many shots as any class. Same with regular attacks for some classes with low health, too.
game over. You are on death valley. Don't even dream of taking a hit and surviving, you won't make it.
WHY ARE YOU TAKING HITS
any critical hit from a melee will kill you in one hit.
WHY ARE YOU BEING HIT BY MELEE
most regular attacks will kill you in 2-3, and crits nearly always 1-2.
WHY ARE YOU TAKING HITS
the sandman sucks cock now.
NO THAT'S YOU SUCKING COCK AT SCOUT f
WHY ARE YOU TAKING HITS Because splash damage is hard to avoid, you know, rockets? WHY ARE YOU BEING HIT BY MELEE Scout's bat is a 1 hitter now WHY ARE YOU TAKING HITS See above NO THAT'S YOU SUCKING COCK AT SCOUT The weapon sucks balls now, I could use the regular bat, but I like using the sandman, I'd take a loss of double jump over -30 hp any day. f
There ya go. And really, when the fucking splash damage off a rocket kills you in 1 hit, that's bull shit. When a single sticky kills you in 1 hit, that's fucking bullshit. It isn't fair, and you know it isn't.

I played a little Scout with the Sandman in Arena last night, had tons of fun and topped the charts. There wasn't heavy Demo spam or anything like that, so the grenades I did have to dodge (And the stickies as well) were pretty much a non-issue. I find staying out of the way of things that are going to kill you is an excellent way to not die/stay alive. Plus I feel like a Scout with my double jump back, and stunning Medics is loads of fun.
It lost its ability to stun ubers too? Holy shit they managed to make the sandman completely useless.
pfft i love my ball
Look, the whole purpose for the sandman is to make the scout useful in defense. Meaning, he hangs closer to supply cabinets and sentry nests and uses his ball to help out his team. Leaving the scout with full health made the sandman just as versatile in offense as defense. Now that sandman scouts are weak, it forces them to take up a more defensive role. EDIT: But if that's the case, I don't see why it doesn't stun ubers anymore.
Scout is certainly the most controversial class in terms of unlocks, which is why the sandman, in particular, is banned in all serious leagues.
The sandman is basically better in every way now so if you ask me, complainers are just playing maps that are too spammy. If you're dying a lot then use the bat. If you're not dying you'll top the scoreboard in seconds. It's really not that bad and mostly depends on how well you can dodge and how good the map is.
Scout is certainly the most controversial class in terms of unlocks, which is why the sandman, in particular, is banned in all serious leagues.
Since when do we care what they do?
Since when do we care what they do?
Ever since valve asked them to playtest for them and give advice on game and map balance, I'd think.
So if you get double teamed your most likely dead already
