Being able to stun übers made Sandman really important in defense, which made the Scout more popular in there. Now it's just another piece of trash unlock like Bonk!.
I understand the removal of the double jump since it's a hard wooden bat, but when they bought back in the double jump and removed the partial health, then I just got confused. But still, it's a video game, so no exceptions.
The Big Hurt achievement as well... I have 8 out of 2 and still don't have it.
The Big Hurt achievement as well... I have 8 out of 2 and still don't have it.
Yep, they changed the achievement/required number but didn't reset the value. Guess we got to wait until they fix it or you can reset your stats (but that will restart the progress on all of your achievements).
Wow. 515 agrees. I dont think we even have 515 active posters 0_0
I love the sandman, all the dipshits who use it are easier to kill than ever. I mean, it was fairly easy to him them before since they couldn't double jump but now, you hardly even need to aim the 2nd shot because the 1st shot would have killed them. Basically, you can get 1 free kill with the sandman at a cost of being killed repeatably by everything.
I still use the sandman and I still like it.
OP rants about something that he should stick up his ass. :buddy: You are meant to dodge as a scoot,be a good scoot.
scout is an ambush class, you shouldn't be able to be shot that often
Sandman lost the ability to stun ubers because of the competitive playtesting. Firstly, in 6v6 gameplay, a third of a team is often made up of scouts. Secondly, the most popular gametype in competitive play is 5CP push maps, namely Granary and Badlands. Thirdly, the uber is the single most important mechanic in 6v6 because it's the best way for one of the soldiers or the demoman on the team to push their team into the next point. With the prominence of scouts in 6v6 and the addition of the Sandman, the uber was rendered useless. That's why CEVO and other competitive leagues banned the item, and why Valve dropped the ability to stun ubers. Same thing with the return of the double jump. One key reason scouts, soldiers, and demomen are used in competitive play is because of their mobility. They can get to places the other classes can't, or at least much easier. Without the double jump, the scout loses one of its key advantages as a class. Therefore Valve decided to give it back. However, obviously without any downside, the Sandman is just a more powerful bat, so they lowered the scout's health to make up for the return of the double-jump. Yes, a rocket is going to kill you from close-range now. From medium to long range, rockets are useless against scouts because the projectiles move slow and the scout is easily capable of dodging them. That's why you keep your distance and use the pistol - or, wait a second, you have a ball that STUNS PEOPLE FOR LONGER THE FURTHER YOU ARE FROM THEM. Idea: you can stun the soldier from a bit of a distance, THEN get in close for the FAN or scattergun to have their maximum effect, then run like hell before the soldier snaps out of it should he still be alive. For the flare gun, the projectiles are terribly simple to dodge from a distance. If you aren't at a distance, then you're fucking stupid because pyros are ridiculously deadly to scouts (and every other low-health class) at close range anyway. Scout on scout, yeah, if you let the scout get that close, you're dead in one shot. Not that much of a difference though, since without the Sandman health drop you're still dead in two, and Lord knows the FAN gets off two shots in no time.
I don't get why heavy's keep spinning there gun, my only compliant.
SUMMARY: Poster is butthurt because he knows the op is right
SUMMARY: All I did was read the post and not give a shit at all apart from posting something funny, you're the one who's butthurt
Buff bonk! if you want people to stop complaining about dying all the time. Which is what I see people doing pretty much all the time now.
I don't get why heavy's keep spinning there gun, my only compliant.
Because he was the easiest one to stun, and having to spin-up again made it easy for the scout to gtfo or finish him off once the stun ended. So now things are fairer.
If the sandman is overpowered, people complain. If it's nerfed, people complain. Once it's all balanced guess what people will do. COMPLAIN
Your avatar fits perfectly with your post.
Next sandman update: Clicking any mouse button while Sandman is equipped immediately causes the Scout to explode.
I don't know why that was so damn funny but it was.
Your avatar fits perfectly with your post.
somehow I knew someone was going to say that.
Because he was the easiest one to stun, and having to spin-up again made it easy for the scout to gtfo or finish him off once the stun ended. So now things are fairer.
That's why he has a team, a heavy should never be by himself.
That's why he has a team, a heavy should never be by himself.
Yeeeaaah I don't think you get it.
I found that I lived longer using the sandman now, the lack of health got me avoiding situations where I'd take enough damage to die. But its still useless. It'd be alright if it could still stun ubers/allowed for more health.
First a brief history: When the Sandman came onto the scene, everyone first wet their pants with excitement. Stunning? Able to stun an uber? It is a ball? Soon excitement turned into hate as people realized, "Dude, this shit is OP". For a long time the tf2 community was divided, the only argument in favor of the sandman was, "Well.. it -IS- hard to aim.". Steam groups were made to get rid of the sandman from the game, players even taking it upon themselves to delete it from their inventory as if on some gay-ass holy crusade. Valve saw this, and implemented a change to it in the class-less update. Now: The sandman, once restricting a double jump, now instead forces a scout player to lose 30 health. The scout, who shared his health with the engineer, sniper, and spy at 125, would be forced to walk around with 95, not even a good looking number. It is important to note that all other classes get their health divided by 25, not the scout with the sandman. While being given back a double jump was nice, as now scouts didn't have to rely on the FAN (which the update made suck cock cause you need to aim EXACTLY down to get the boost, rather than at a slight angle as before, but that's a rant for another day) and could now use the scatter gun and inflict great damage on the a-holes he stunned. However, this -30 was a fucking slap in the face. Lemme go to a quick rundown: The critical hit of the flare gun does 90 damage, a regular flashgun hit, if not being doused with water, can deal around 90-94 damage. The scatter gun deals 100 or so damage at close range. A rocket does 100 damage at close to medium range. Imagine my surprise when after getting hit by a flare gun, I was left with 1 health. Or, fighting a scout and dieing from 1 single non-crit shot. Game over. You are on death valley. Don't even dream of taking a hit and surviving, you won't make it. Any critical hit from a melee will kill you in one hit. Most regular attacks will kill you in 2-3, and crits nearly always 1-2.
I love the new sandman. Yesterday when playing I was top of the team and I had only played scout.
I love the new sandman. Yesterday when playing I was top of the team and I had only played scout.
Probably cause every time you stun someone you get +1 or +2. Usually in a game I have more bonus points than I have kills.

Okay. Nice contribution to the topic.
Yeeeaaah I don't think you get it.
If you get killed by a scout cause you are all by yourself you deserve it.
thanks you fuckin poopstick
fuck the sandman shit Huge Ass Images
Cool story, bro
Anyways I love my Sandman you chumps. lrn2dodge
The great thing about this change IMO is it completely changes the Sandman, the Scout become more of a "high risk, high reward" class then ever. Either the enemy gets an easy kill on you or you are skilled enough to get an easy kill on them. Perfect tradeoff. That said, I wouldn't mind getting that 5 health back for an even 100.
I don't get why heavy's keep spinning there gun, my only compliant.
Cry some moar. [editline]08:49AM[/editline]
Heavy is my main class and I love this nerf. Yesterday I got stunned by a scout and my minigun was spun up. Normally, I would have to spin it up again after the stun, but after the update it's still spinning :D So I ended up killing the scout after the stun thanks to my spun up gun. It was a really close call too, had 3hp left :smug: [editline]11:17AM[/editline] My counter argument: Spun up heavy.
:flashfap:
