http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1118190? Somewhere in this thread if I recall correctly. Nevermind, I guess he just said separately that there would be a halloween update and regular content updates; I got the two mixed up.
I seem to have missed this thread. I get nervous when i hear that people have seen the future of TF2. I want to visit Valve >:(
Don't get too excited, but this has been reported as being in the beta. It needs more testing to see if it's either a hoax or a bug of some kind.

Don't get too excited, but this is in the beta. It needs more testing to see if it's either a hoax or a bug of some kind.
Wow, TS on that looks so much better.
if anyone has a different color other than TS in the beta and has a Mangler, and wants to take one for the team, see if you can get all the way through it and paint it, or if it produces and error after that screen.
It does support paint, it just isn't set to be paintable. So if it set to be paintable, it won't produce an error.
schema update for beta even slower reload on the Shortstop (around 50%) http://git.optf2.com/schema-tracking/commit/?id=88ae711b0aa5b209bbe4f7689e7f4f1e385d0fb8&context=6
Don't get too excited, but this has been reported as being in the beta. It needs more testing to see if it's either a hoax or a bug of some kind.
It begins
Unneeded in my opinion.
They should try it as a secondary, or maybe have it operate how it does in real life (all shells are fired at once) and keep the regular reload.
They can't try it as secondary because of the set.
I really wish that they could abolish the sets, but complete removal will cause backlash amidst those who purchased it. And that's the only obstacle in their way of removing it. Just nerf the sets to hell, then.
I really wish that they could abolish the sets, but complete removal will cause backlash amidst those who purchased it. And that's the only obstacle in their way of removing it. Just nerf the sets to hell, then.
THE MILKMAN SET +0.1 max HP
Does Valve even check on what's overpowered and what's not seriously
Wouldn't nerfing the sets to hell also cause a backlash amidst those who purchased it?
Not as much as a flat-out removal. If they do progressive nerfs, it'd be a much more gradual transition, less backlash overall.
Wouldn't nerfing the sets to hell also cause a backlash amidst those who purchased it?
Reimburse them or something. It can't be that hard.
I don't see why nerf the sets when they are already fine. The Soldier set needs a buff.
The entire notion of having a set bonus bound to using a hat is broken in itself.
Don't get too excited, but this has been reported as being in the beta. It needs more testing to see if it's either a hoax or a bug of some kind.
Time to Paint one Pink as Hell and another Lime Green.
Look what they did with christmas. They didn't even have a christmas related map instead we get unrelated medieval crap.
but christmas is religious, halloween is pagan
The 1st anniversary of the Mann-Conomy update is next week, on a Friday. They'll probably unveil something massive then.
oh fuck i went an entire year without knowing i now share a birthday with the mann-conomy update
but christmas is religious, halloween is pagan
Well still it needs it's own map. one that's not related to medieval mode. One that has a giant snowman boss.
From a Valve guy on SPUF:
Some new changes coming to the beta early next week-ish: - Added "load_itempreset <preset index>" console command. - Added keyboard options to bind keys to all four presets. - Fixed Quickswitch, so that your changes don't get stomped by presets. - Quickswitch changes are now saved to the currently selected preset. - Added the preset UI (4 vertical buttons) to Quickswitch. - Changing presets in the class loadout screen, class selection screen, or Quickswitch causes you to respawn if tf_respawn_on_loadoutchanges is nonzero. - Enlarged the buttons a bit. Thanks for all the great feedback! -Jon
Time to get me a fosters fascade so I can wear my merryweather + Mostache with the tie.
Time to get me a fosters fascade so I can wear my merryweather + Mostache with the tie.
uh, the facade is the gas mask, not the tie
Oh, the tie then, not the mask
They haven't had a content update this month, so it will MOST LIKELY be next week, on the 30th. The Mann-Conomy Anniversary.
If so, that will be a cool birthday present to me from valve :v: [sp]Yes, it's my birthday on the 30th[/sp]
Does Valve even check on what's overpowered and what's not seriously
Valve mind: Weapons are fine Hats are overpowered! Let's release MORE overpowered hats! [spoiler:That...was....the...joke..:/spoiler]
The entire notion of having a set bonus bound to using a hat is broken in itself.
Even without the hat (Medieval Medic etc) I think it's pretty silly. Usually set boni are given as an incentive to (A) stop people from combining the most hideous stuff because it combines the best stats or (B) to give people a hint that these weapons work well in conjunction. I don't think I need to explain why neither applies to TF2, so the only two effects derived from these set boni are that Valve can't go back and fix a lot because of customers that paid a lot of money for their bonus, and that it discourages to try out new combos. I'm using the Beta myself to try out weapons I almost never use, and while it doesn't make for the most effective gameplay, it can be pretty fun to try out new playstyles or find out what works together. The Pocket Rocket Launchers work well together with the Battalion's Backup for example.
Having to wait 4 seconds to heal 50hp as many times as you like versus being able to drop a medium health kit every 30 seconds? A health kit that heals 125 health instantly and can be refilled with a medkit if you're at full health? You'd have to eat the bar 3 times to get that, which is close to 15 seconds (half of Sandvich), but you're immobile the entire time... I'll take Sandvich any day. That 4 seconds of being a sitting duck is just not worth the 50 health you get back. Not with the Tomislav, not ever. And I've already pointed out, no, absolutely not is the Tomislav "intended" to ambush. Heavy can't ambush. He's just not built for it. He can't stalk, he can't chase, and he's awful as soon as the enemy escapes. He's also huge can't get into many of the same hiding spots other classes can because he lacks a second or high jump. If you're playing Heavy like a ninja, you're absolutely using him at his weakest potential. And even if you could, the -50 health offsets the faster wind up time. Now instead of winding up slowly and taking 50 hp while you do it, you just lose the health right off the bat. This is a terrible "nerf" (although it's more destroying it) to the weapon that doesn't address any of the issues with it, while at the same time neutralizing any benefits the weapon already had.
There is nothing I can agree with here other than sandvichis op.
There is nothing I can agree with here other than sandvichis op.
Sandvich is OP? You're funny
"441" { "name" "The Cow Mangler 5000" "item_class" "tf_weapon_particle_cannon" "craft_class" "weapon" "craft_material_type" "weapon" "capabilities" { "nameable" "1" "can_gift_wrap" "1" "paintable_team_colors" "1" } etc.
On the Cow Mangler Other fun changes nobody noticed - Face items can't be worn with glasses - Whole Head items can't be worn with face, glasses, hats or ears - The Minigun, Razorback/Dangershielf, Soldier's Banners and all mediguns now attach to the cosmetic slot "back", which I have a good idea why for most of them, but no idea why for the Minigun. This just means you can't use items that conflict with your back while equipped with those weapons. - The Hotrod is considered a head replacement, not a hat. This means it can't be used with any face changing misc items (like glasses or the googly gazer). - The Halloween masks are whole head, meaning head miscs can't be used - Spine Chilling Skull is considered a "Hat" and a "Face" meaning face miscs can't be used (but beards can) - Foster's Facade isn't a head replacement... it's considered a beard for some reason. I think this is because you can't equip glasses with a whole head change - Heroes Hachimaki is a "Face" item, meaning no glasses can be worn with it - Noh Mercy is a "Face" item, meaning Camera Beard + Noh Mercy is still possible (I think) - Honcho's Headgear, Fez and Houndog are all considered hats and glasses, meaning no other glasses can be equipped. - Pocket medic is a pocket item, and can be worn with badges (lol clipping) - Lord Cockswane's Beard is a face and beard item, meaning no Hachimaki and the Beard (not that most people would do that combo anyway). This sadly means it isn't equippable with the Honcho's Headgear - Mask of Shaman is a whole head change, meaning no cosmetics on the face can be worn at all - Same for Dragon Born Helmet - Same for Anger (no more Villain's Veil + Anger) - Some kind of "Expiration Date" was added as an attribute - Most references to sockets have been removed - Steel jaw is a beard lol In my opinion, Valve is aggressively going after bad clipping and making items that don't go together restrictive. I believe such a change will allow a little more freedom for model makers, as items that may clip with cosmetics (hi Blighted Beak), can just have that cosmetic turned off.
On the Cow Mangler
So... does that mean it can only be painted with Team Colors?
So... does that mean it can only be painted with Team Colors?
then that's fucking stupid really it's like they're charging us for something that should be already there — team colors are a base element of TF2's design
