Like, I was thinking of a shrill, thin wind sound for the flamethrower, sortof like that screaming sound you hear in blizzards.
And maybe an alteration for the flare gun to make the sound more crystalline.

I've talked with Bolty from FPSB about the flamethrower's particles, and that happens to anyone and everyone. What's wrong is VALVe and the way they did the flamethrower's particle. If you look at the vtf, it's a series of sprites that should go one to the next to create an animated sprite. But when you edit the vtf, it looses whatever it is that tells it "ok, this portion of the sprite, then this one, etc.,." There's a program he recommended so you can redo this, but I forget what it's called and he's on vacation until the end of the month. :frown:

Have you changed the flamethrower.pcf's colors? If not they will stay orange-red.

UPDATE: Just finished custom sounds. :dance: The first 10 seconds of spray sounds decent, but after that it sounds like a full blown blizzard with a nice transition. I think it's finished. (the FT sounds anyway)

Some Ideas
Flamethrower could be Frost-Sprayer.
Shotgun could be an Icicle Shard Shooter.
Axe Could Be a Pick Axe and the Axtinguisher could be a pick axe with the axetinguisher theme.
The Flare Gun could be a snowball shooter :3:
And the back Burner could be something Mr.Freeze Inspired!

You edit particles with the in-engine particle editor.
Extract TF2 particles.
Add-tools to the launch options on TF2.
Start TF2, go into particle editor mode (Tools Submenu > Particle Editor), open pcf file.
Have fun figuring it out. (Check in Operators and Initializers, the functions are pretty straightforward)

Lemme give a slightly more detailed tutorial. Pictures will come.
Open up the "tf2 content" gcf, then find and and extract the "flamethrower.pcf" file under tf/particles to wherever you want.
Go to TF2's launch options (right click TF2, properties, set launch options) and add "-tools" to the options.
Launch TF2. You will be booted into the TF2 Tools, which includes a commentary, particle, and I believe a texture editor. Go to the Particle Editor by clicking the "tool" menu, then particle editor.
Open the "flamethrower.pcf" file. You will find a list of particles on the left. They include things like "flamethrower", "flamethrower_blue", "flamethrower_crit", "flamethrower_crit_blue", etc.,.
Below the list you will find where you actually mess around with the particles. Select one and poke around. It's advised you know a little about programming/modeling/what-have-you so you know what the terms means (things like children, operators, etc.).
Once you make a particle you like, find the console (the command line at the very, very bottom), and launch a map with the "map <map name>" command. A list of maps should automatically appear after typing "map ".
