The handle really needs to look less like the bioshock atom needle. It's painfully obvious, it won't get accepted.
I also think the ubercharge meter markings needs to be removed, it would look better without the white measurements.

You should really make the rusty brown parts less rusty brown. It just doesn't feel right. Parts I think could use some gray rather than brown are here:

Don't get me wrong, I don't want ALL of those parts gray. I'm just saying you should pick one or two of those and make them gray/less brown. Personally I'd like it if the long cylinder that connects to the needle was made gray. It just doesn't seem right for that part to be all brown.

There is no method of catching crit event in qc.
But I think ACT_VM_SWINGHARD macro in the bottle's qc simply replace the model when crit event occur.
So it might be possible using that macro.

About the elephant gun blowing up when crits, well, only Valve can do it adding a change of bodygroups when you have a crit, but is already submitted and they aren't gonna do something like that on their own.
