I don't see the issues with crates, if you don't want them just trade em away, the people who want to actually buy a key might get a rare item but at the end of the day it's up to those people who want to do that.

Managed to trade my way into 4 crates. Took a full scoot set, a refined metal and a Sola Topi to get them, but it was worth it. Oh yeah, and a direct hit.
It'll take so much money in AU$ to open them all.
