A lot of that update needs fixing, as we know.
Kill icons, animations, dialogue (chocolate sanvich?).
I'm hoping that after the Engineer update, Valve will go back and tweak weapons to balance them if neccessary. For example, I wouldn't mind if the Heavy has more HP. I remember when I found him scary if I ran into him.
Why do people keep saying that the engi update could bring stuff that makes the homewrecker useful?
The flamethrower always does more damage, and even if the engi update brings in a building that's specifically resistant to fire (I wouldn't expect it) it's gonna stay useless. And even then you can just use the shotgun and not need it anyway.
Hammer needs something special to it like the OPs suggestion before it's anything more than pointless :I
I actually got the idea when I saw these 2 boys getting bullies down an alleyway and this skinny boy went flying when they pushed him back but the fatter one stood sturdy
Really good reason you have there! I do agree he needs something to be able to strike down the sentries.
On a sidenote: I think I know why the Soldier and Demo got the Pain Train: They can rocket/stickyjump onto points...
It was a reward to the slower classes in the game with club weapons for getting to a point.
They can cap faster if they live.

It makes them more team-oriented. Better capping ability, but more reliant on medics for health.

So you're saying that the only option would be a fire resistant building?
Just fucking wait. It may be a building that doesn't shoot if you're wielding a melee, or whatever.
I get the impression that Valve are deliberately not making the community items too useful - more of a novelty than a serious choice for players.
This way, they can keep introducing new weapons and not have to worry so much about how well they are balanced.
What if the Home Wrecker disabled the sentry for 3 or 4 seconds on hit to make a nice passage for the second blow? That and reduced push back, this weapon needs to some how be a more valuable to take down sentries then the Flamethrower.
How about the Pyro gets crits for a short while if he actually manages to destroy a building with the homewrecker? A lot like the KGB, except he has to destroy buildings, not kill players.
My idea of the Homewrecker:
+50% damage on players
1-shots any building
Tremondous knockback on players (I'm talking HUGE knockback)
This isn't OP because the knockback pushes the victim out of range for flamethrowers or melee. Like, 30-40 in-game feet.
And makes it a 100% upgrade to the regular axe. We don't need any more of those, thanks.
Seems OP to me. Pyros would be a terror, flinging people left and right. Walk into a heavy, just smack him and he's way out of lethal range. Also, one uber and even a nest full of sentries would be down before it was half over.

What the hell +50 damage on players?!
Also another thought to the table, why would the engie update bring something the homewrecker could be useful for? Ok so maybe the update might eliminate the sentry totally making the engie a totally new class to play (which is sorta what valve does with the updates I guess...)
We'll just have to wait and see.
It should be somthing like this:
-15% movement speed.
+ Change to sunt enemy.
+Dmg To buildings 50%
I can see the knockback being alright if you didn't change the damage stats from the originals.
But that's what pyro has Airblast for anyway.
Along with updates, they usually change some mechanics around. Maybe sentries might get a nerf. Maybe the Homewrecker some buffs. Who knows?

What the hell is a sunt enemy and why would I want to change into one?
