So, if I were to send a gift of this game to a friend within the week, would I get the in-game Tf2 items for actually purchasing it? Or will my friend receive both the Game and the Tf2 items?
He gets both. You get nothing.
You could live with it for a few weeks or so, the amount of Max heads being seen in-game will decrease as time goes by. I actually don't see the Bill's Hat nearly as much as I used to, even the Halo. [editline]09:51PM[/editline] Chances are, it will be the most rare event hat.
I completely agree, I've seen 2 halos in the past 2-3 months and I doubt this will be much different.
He gets both. You get nothing.
Hope you're right, because I'm about to purchase. Here goes nothing.
Also thinking back this isn't the first time Max got himself somewhere he doesn't belong, it actually makes sense for him to come here. Hell he's appeared in star wars :v:
They should have made the items able to find, while giving all of them to S&M buyers as soon as they start TF2 up.
If they actually made TF2 and S&M's stories collide, it could be really awesome if done right. I'd love to see Sam shake hands with Saxton Hale in the comics. Anyway, think of Max's head as a late Easter hat.

The same place he keeps his pistol.
In a cardboard box?
Sam and Max: The Devils Playhouse + TF2 Items 34.99 USD From my receipt. LOL
In a cardboard box?
Nah, that's Sam Max always gets violent or angry when asked. Ah well, joke wasted.
The same place he keeps his pistol.
His sock! But he's naked...
Sam and Max: The Devils Playhouse + TF2 Items 34.99 USD From my receipt. LOL
I bet the game's price will go down to 9.99 USD when the TF2 item deal is no longer there. :v:
I think the reason for their introducing an exclusive item is so that the trade system will actually make sense when it does come out - there will be a point to trading.
I think the reason for their introducing an exclusive item is so that the trade system will actually make sense when it does come out - there will be a point to trading.
Is the trading feature confirmed?
sam and max = awesome
I'm not really a fan of hats or the drop system at this point. To assume that I think that "bloodthirsty mercenaries running around with toy slugs and gloves on their heads are perfectly fine" is just that: an assumption. That's actually a part of the reason that I've begun to enjoy Team Fortress 2 much less. The humor that the game originally exhibited was much more subtle and believable. This humor quickly evolved outside of the game with additions such as fake advertisements, tons of jokes in the blog posts and update pages, and the addition of a much richer backstory (Mann Co., Saxton Hale, the Announcer, et cetera). It also began leaking into the game in the form of more "wacky" domination lines, and even items (Jarate [which, despite being so absurd, was executed extremely well; that's another subject, however]). Hats were a mistake from the beginning. Despite being functionless accouterments, they divided the community into the "have"s and the "have not"s - worse, the division was purely random, creating a sense of frustration and futility amongst the masses of Irish poor. That is an extremely glaring mistake, and looking back at it now I am very surprised that Valve instituted random hat drops. But I digress... the humor behind these hats (mostly hats) is so disconnected from the distinct atmosphere of the Team Fortress 2 universe that it almost infringes upon its identity. Games evolve, but they don't always evolve in the right direction. Edit: That's what I'm saying, Mexican (both posts). So, yeah. :)
this is probably the most well-worded post in the thread. initially i had no problem with hats. for the most part they fit the identity of the class well. then valve went and kept on adding more and more hats/items that had nothing to do with the tf2 atmosphere. honestly, a brain slug on a pyro? decapitated rabbit heads? a sword and shield for a class designed for demolitions? i wish they'd add some sort of convar for clients that lets us disable the hats that have nothing to do with tf2. i kind of miss tf2 back when each class had its own distinct duties and apparel.
for all of the people who are mad at the sam and max items, Go buy the damn game the other sam and max games were great, this looks like no exception.
a brain slug on a pyro?
The Brain Slug is a reference to the rampant Sci-Fi craze at the time. Sci-Fi was incredibly popular at the time. It's likely a toy, in which case, how is it sillier than the Beanie?
Well it looks dumb and it technically isn't a hat since brain slugs may have been a craze in the 50's or whatever but they didn't actually exist. And that's only one example, there are tons of other hats that don't fit the tf2 theme at all. to clarify i'm not saying valve should remove the hats (god forbid they upset their 14 year old target audience), they should just give players the option of disabling/toggling the crap they've been adding.
Max's pistol only replaces Scout's pistol, which is really.. REALLY stupid.
Yes, i know so i thought: in the coding it says which class can use what weapon. So i made it that the engineer can use it aswell. Just a simple: "Engineer" "1" line. Result: Badass engineer :clint: Another shot :iia: Firstperson :downs: The animations is barely existant, but reload isnt broken and you can choose smothly which one to have. You can only play if you do "Create server" though. You could almost say it is the first engineer unlock.

I still catch myself thinking that the drop system is annoying and that hats are a useless and incredibly silly addition to the game... but none of that matters. TF2 is fun, and the hats don't impair that at all for me. Maybe if you're into the metagame of TF2 they're annoying, but I play for the gameplay and (so far) hats don't affect that at all.
The guns look kind of... cheap
Yeah, the textures are terrible. I know they're technically community weapons but come on, they look amateurish.
Yeah, the textures are terrible. I know they're technically community weapons but come on, they look amateurish.
I think they fit ( well the hat.... no) and i like them i am getting the game on the 22 because i love sam and max games.
They could at least make the weapons look decent and not piles of shit.
Hey, they could look worse, as the recent community items have shown us.
Hey, they could look worse, as the recent community items have shown us.
All of the community items look better than these, and I don't like the community items at all.
Bright side, Scout has a decent secondary unlock now. Edit: Skidd that's horseshit and you know it. The pain trains textures look muddy as all hell, where the new weapons just look flat.
