The only thing I have planned is to add Valve's snow theme onto glacier to make it look better and maybe add the environment light from Viaduct as well.
I'll probably look into changing the way the timer works. Right now, it's maxed out at 6 minutes. A and B each add 4.5 minutes to the timer, but is then cut down to 6 minutes.
For example; The timer is initially set at 6 minutes. If blue then capture A after 1 minute, they will only get one minute added to the total time. If they capture it after 5 minutes, they'll get the full 4,5 minutes from the cap added to the timer.
This was added simply to prevent steamrolling.
The problem with this system is that it doesn't reward the blue team for capturing a point faster; they just lose potential time they could have used later on.
It's even more apparent in competitive play.
It's a tough one to solve. Removing the max time limit would give blue a major advantage if they capture A or B quickly.
Don't forget the snow trees. If I'm not mistaken you had alot of problems getting snow on the trees and finally abandoned the idea.

Reduce the added time to 3 minutes.

I put it back to my normal one

I noticed. It looked bizarre to return to the page after replying to see avatars changed around.
Viaduct is also the first Team Fortress map to take place during a snowfall (not counting Acegikmo’s awesome cp_glacier map, or for that matter all the other community mappers who manage to think up and execute on all the cool stuff before we even think of it)
What? that's new isn't it?
Not too new :)
I'll start detailing glacier with the new snow assets
[editline]02:58AM[/editline]
If anyone's interested, I've put up a live stream where I detail glacier and check out Valve's snow stuff.

Better/Worse?
It is Sex.

Lighter Snow days were the best.
Alright, I'll stick to this then :)
Just compared, morning Snow is better.

(Viaduct)
Better. :D
I don't think much of their snowy theme, it's way too subtle. Nice work porting a few of their elements over though, together they look wonderful.
I'm sorry but the offical map with snow looks a billion times better.
I preferred yours to be honest, but whatever floats your boat.
(still prefer the old lighting)
oh and youd better keep those snowflakes mister
I much prefer the old lighting, honestly.
I think the new lighting is pretty good although it might need toning down a little.
I like new lighting and skybox
But did you keep the crashed cargo ship ?
I'm sorry but the offical map with snow looks a billion times better.
Of course.
Valve has got professional environment artists there who knows what looks awesome and what doesn't.
I much prefer the old lighting, honestly.
I don't know; the old sky was using a white version of granary's skybox, with the sun angle and color of 2fort (With toned down brightness).
Using the official sun angles and colors of one of Valve's skybox give much more realistic lighting.
I liked the old one better, but that's just me. It also looked very different, glacier had the feeling of an upcoming snow storm, what I liked very much. valves solution on the other side is more "cheerful" like there's nothing bad going to happen.
I'd stick to the old one. It makes your map look different.
[editline]12:57PM[/editline]
Maybe I'd need to play on both versions, so I could give a better feedback
I like that one. Bright, but not the "happy snow tiem" bright that viaduct uses.
Are you gonna use valves wood textures for the buildings now, or use your own? I always found your owns a bit too visually 'loud' if you get what I mean. Oh, and I like how valves icicles are just white blobs :P
I'm not sure; I'll probably have to experiment some more to see what's best
I think the problem I have is that the Viaduct sky/lighting is just too warm - too much yellow and pink. I imagined Glacier having a more frigid/arctic theme than Viaduct which is more of a winter theme, if that makes sense.
Yeh Viaduct is quite cosy while glacier is ice caves
A is pretty much finished now.
B and C really need to be improved though and I have no idea how to detail them.

Needs more hot chocolate.
and tbh, it needs to have the Evil Genius feel to it.
Any comparison screens ?
Any comparison screens ?
Not with the new style.
I do have a comparison between alpha 1 and the first release candidate (Latest version).

Aaaaaaa too much ice now.
and is that the darkest wood texture from viaduct? I like how the warm and cold contrasted before :(
