I'm not bothered with the microtransaction system. Everything available to purchase can be dropped. So as long as you are patient you won't need to spend any money.
At the same time I have no problem paying for a few small things. TF2 has given me more enjoyment than almost any other game. I didn't even pay full price for it specifically but got the Orange Box instead. I love Valve, and it's awesome that community members also get the some of the earnings.
People need to chill out before they start raging at prices. Read the FAQs, it's a reasonable system.
