And like many people, I've lost all respect for Mecha due to what is going on here.
Although Max has some good points, as usual he is being a drama queen.
Mecha's not in the right either. There's evidence of some pretty real control issues here, and some real neglect has been shown towards Max (and moreso Rebaccus), especially considering how very poor this gamemode would be without his work.

How am I being a "drama queen"?
What would you have done in my place?
Probably discussed this over Steam with a lot of punctuation (when I get srs), then quit silently.
I wouldn't have posted the open letter or the chatlogs (though Mecha posted the chatlog, so in fairness he also fuelled the drama). I certainly wouldn't have made mirrors of threads.
Making this sort of stuff public literally couldn't have any outcome BUT causing unnecessary drama.

Sorry neo but you really need to read. Max stated with proof that Mecha was the one who wanted a public statement. He has also tried to talk to Mecha over steam but Mecha has denied Max any form of communication to him other than on FP.
Also, I believe it was the right thing to make mirrors of the thread, cause if he was just blankly saying things he couldn't back himself up and Mecha had a chance to get away with his lies. It was the right thing to do.

Once again, Mecha himself said he'd comply with my removal request if I posted a public explanation for why I was leaving.
However, when I crossposted that explanation to his forums, exactly like he asked, he ended up removing all the threads in which there was more support for us than him. Then events took the turn we know of.
EDIT: well, what Shounic said. Thank you :)
Counter DMCA? How does that- I don't even-
If he really did that he deserves all the hate from the public.
I would hate to butt in, Lies I love to butt in, I think it would have been more appropriate to attempt to communicate to him directly (this obviously failed) and if that did not work, silently file the DMCA. Yes, he wanted you to make a public statement on this, but you never needed to in the first place. Some of the content on SLAG servers obviously belongs to you and you should have the ability to have your say.
If you think Mecha is so unreasonable then why would you continue to give into this demand? If your content isint being removed when you ask, then you need no further action beyond taking the legal steps to remove it. Creating this mess only resulted for the worse. Do you think Mecha will be able grow from this experience if the only catalyst for doing so is mockery and shaming? Do you think the chances of a more meaningful apology, a nicer and less mean spirited resolution could only be reached with these methods? Negative reinforcement results in negative reaction, you treat people like crap and they will turn to shit. Ive lost enough friends to stupid disputes like this to know.
You're no Drama Queen Max, but you're a hell of a Town Crier. No pun intended.
I believe Mecha told him he would remove the content when he made a public announcement, which is all he wanted in the end.
If Max needed to jump through a hoop to control his own work then there is already an issue, but not a valid reason to create drama.
I don't think the drama was purposefully made, Max just wanted his content off the servers, and complied with Mecha's request without having to get legally involved.
Edit: Well, in hopes of not getting legally involved that is.
To me, Mecha is the only one being a fag.

Yeah, and he assured me that he was going to remove the content. I "never needed to" comply with his request in the first place, sure, but I assumed he was telling the truth and was going to keep his word (bad move on my part, should've gotten used to it by now), so I did it.
Are you blaming me for trying to solve this silently and "peacefully" at first?
Please note that the idea of sending a DMCA notice came only late in the "debate", and it was actually suggested to me by EDDY-TT over Steam.

If you read around the middle of page 20 or so, right after his "apology", which he posted right after I went offline, he started spouting lies again. So as far as I'm concerned, I don't think he wants to "grow" from this experience. And as the MFGG wiki link that was posted above suggests, it's not the first time.
If his goal was to remove the content then he doesn't need to do anything extra. One way or another Max was going to get the content pulled, I can guarantee that. By making a public announcement he, whether purposefully or not, went an extra mile down into shitstorm valley. As far as I can tell the DMCA consisted of an Email, not several pages of one sided slander and name calling that supercharged people with emotion, an Email.
Correct me if I'm wrong, a DMCA would completely take down their servers until the content was removed right? Yes that would get the content removed, but a bit excessive in comparison of complying with a request that would have (if Mecha had been telling the truth) had the same effect.

A DMCA takedown request does not take servers the offline unless the infringing content is either refused to be deleted, or its copyright/ownership status is disputed (which is what Mecha did).
I'll forward this information to the customer and let you know if he responds. I will further remind him that, even if he decides to continue to pursue his counter-claim, the DMCA requires that the disputed content be kept offline for the statutory 10-14 day period, regardless of his opinion on whether it infringes, and that I will enforce this by shutting down his service if you inform me that it is being used again within that timeframe.

Not exactly, more often the server provider simply demands that the client remove the content OR have their content mercilessly deleted. I think that provides plenty incentive on its own.
I see, thanks for clearing that up. Still though, it was probably the less hassle filled choice if Mecha had held up his end of the deal.
That illustrates my point, he situation was desperate and the less than friendly atmosphere of the discussion increased the severity of the situation, which generally wont do wonders for someones thought process. Humans are animals, you back one into a wall and they will bare their claws and teeth long before they try to reason.
If his situation was desperate, if the atmosphere became less-than-friendly, it's because of his own actions: refusing to keep his promise of removing the content, starting to post lies, closing and removing the threads on SLAG Gaming, etc.

In short: he backed himself into that wall.
You pushed him farther.
Mecha basicly asked for it, deleting/ignoring/twisting everything he could that would make him look bad.
Mecha tried to make himself look like a victim in the first place, and got his ass handed to him.
The fact that he keeps on lying trough this whole thing makes max furious.
It's simple logic.
Hilarious.
[editline]18th January 2012[/editline]
Forum users acting like spergy 12 year olds. This is great.
He wasn't asking for anything but for the safety of his own ass and possibly the server. He made mistakes, I will admit that. That doesn't justify being a jerk. Max's only real objective was the content (corrected you here)being removed, not the pursuit of destroying his character.
If you take action, you get a reaction.
Mecha annoyed Max and Reb in various ways, Max's reaction was to leave it be.
Mecha continued untill max snapped, in which Max reacted with telling Mecha to remove his and Reb's work from his servers.
Mecha reacted to this with telling Max to make this public, denying the removal of all of max's work.
At this point it goes wrong.
Max reacts to this highly annoyed and possibly angry(keep in mind, this is my perspective of the situation), posting his letter on tumbler and posting it in this thread.
Mecha reacts with going into defensive mode, trying to sabotage the reasons why Max want's to have his content removed from the servers.
Max reacts furious, because he knows that Mecha is lying in plain sight.
Mecha starts to close down all connections to Max, deleting/twisting/ignoring everything but the content from Max off the servers, while stating he want's to do this privately and in a mature manner.
Again, Max reacts furious, knowing that Mecha is, again, lying.
And this goed on and on, Mecha trying to repair his reputation.
Mecha took more then enough action to let the reaction break his character completely.
It is his own fault.
Its understandable why Mecha did everything what he did, but that doesn't mean he is innocent.
(yet again, this is my perspective on the whole situation, if any major gaps are in this, or if i missed something completely, please do correct)

You could have atleast tried to do so without acting like a dick yourself, that probably would have worked out alot more better.
Also it's been ages since I last visited this thread so when I came in to check on the progress of this I was not expecting any of this

i mean heck im still going through pages to see where this all started. How many pages now? I have no clue.

If I remember correctly, you'd be looking for page 14.

Page 13, last message.
Edit: Also, vodkavia, did you read everything?
What did i learn?
People don't like it when you vent to the public.
I think you guys are forgetting it was Mecha who REQUESTED the open and public letter, to which Max complied to. Isn't he the mature one who wanted to settle it peacefully?
And sorry if i'm wrong, but why is it wrong for Max to be angry at Mecha? He's a normal human who has emotions, btw.
So much for a happy ending.

Please teach me in the ways of telling some assholes mindless followers that they are assholes without sounding like a dick?
Max is trying to DMCA an entire folder which is ridiculous, especially since it does not (and did not at time of filing) contain any of his stuff.
The remaining stuff in there is mine and that's why I'm filing a counter-notification.
