Well, in the case of Spy, here's a situation: You are going to a sentry nest. There is a single Engineer at the nest. You want to stab the Engineer and then sap to prevent a skirmish. Chances are, if you were using quickswitch, the sentry would've killed you because you were not able to lay down sappers fast enough. Then, there's the case of disguising. If you don't care about disguising, sure, that's fine. It's just such a pain to do. Engineer's quickswitch is crowded with pdas as well. If you aren't a turtle and use gunslinger, I'm sure you can feel me.
Uh... ...What. That scenario made no sense at all. That's the exact opposite. All your arguments are FOR quick switch.

Quick fix off: Select weapon number, click, take out knife Kill Engi Select Weapon number, click, take out sapper Sap Sentry Quick Fix on: Select weapon number, take out knife Stab Engi Select weapon number, take out sapper Sap Sentry You honestly think the former is more likely to to succeed? Explain how. And how does quick-switch affect disguising, or the Engineer's PDAs?

I'm not claiming it's a god-send, but I like it. Don't like it? Then just get off the thread. EDIT: Really though, the reason why I don't like quick-switch off is because I play left-handed using the IJKL keys. Reason why I don't like quick-switch on is because it requires more actions. The former clutters the screen. With my solution, there are no PDAs to worry about. You don't open your disguise menu when you're engaged. You are able to press one button (twice) to lay down a sentry. You don't open your class selection menu while fighting. Keep it constructive. I'm open to suggestions. But again, if this isn't for you, then move along.
So I can slap all the weapons on to different buttons on my mouse and over complicate every thing. Or just use the number keys to switch faster.
Facepunch is worse than 4chan. Reporting OP post because this website is full of smug trash. LOL! And, 9600bauds, thanks for linking me your guide.
Smug trash? You posted a configuration and most people in this thread gave it input and questioned the practical applications of it. And you're hurling around insults having only been here for five days. While I'm new too, I certainly didn't take offense and automatically put labels on an online community because a bunch of people didn't like something that I posted, especially when the creation of a thread solely about it is unnecessary at best. The only "smug trash" I see here is you. Grow up.
To be honest it seems like you didn't really think this thread through at all
Lol, forums. Only reason I posted this here was because I released something back in 2009 that wasn't completely slaughtered by boxes and criticism. http://www.facepunch.com/threads/837746 I approached that in the same manner and I got positive responses. I was even more of a dick. However, unlike that, this was in a much more polished state. I explained everything in the package, assuming people would download out of curiosity. Then, proceed to answer questions. However, I overlooked the fact that people aren't keen to download something without knowing what it was. I suppose 'script', 'configuration', and 'redesigning tf2's weapon switching system' were too vague. So, after consulting Erfly, I added a pastebin excerpt of the binds.cfg file. Problem solved, right? Nah, I just got poorly thought out responses regarding the futility of my package. Quick-switch, on or off is preference. I always liked it on because I play using the IJKL keys. However, I don't think I would change my thoughts even if I did play with WASD. The mouse wheel is too blunt to switch weapons with and I stand by the philosophy that you need your hand on WASD/CTRL/and space to play effectively. Movement is integral to escaping your enemy's crosshair. When I originally made this, even when most scripts did not function as intended, I noticed that I was able to react much faster to various situations. I've always thought that binding the primary, secondary, and melee weapons to the mouse made sense, but I knew this wasn't for everyone. So no, I suppose I didn't think that the Facepunch wouldn't download it. I suppose that was my key fault when creating this thread. I appreciate all of the positive comments, and I will make a couple flavors based on the scarce suggestions in this thread. Notably, captions and 3-button mouse support.
