Using idler was not cheating. No one gets hurt, no one gets advantage.
There is an advantage:
You can leave it on and forget, and not get booted for AFK. Allowing you to leave it on for quite a long time, so you can sleep, watch a movie, play a console game or go beat some meat.

I don't think they care about the idling. I think it's more that they care people used a third party program. If they wanted to they could easily detect who idles on an idle server and do the same punishment to them too.
I have no problems with people having halos and all, but they do look a tad silly.
I'm actually surprised by all the halo hate. It's funny. It's just a fad anyway, once people grow tired of tired of their halos and you idlers get your items back, no one will care. Just soldier through it and move on.

It's not cheating, and just because you have a halo doesn't mean you're instantly better than anyone.

Halos are as common as not having a hat is now.
I love the Poor and Irish halo heads who gloat, and then I tell them I have a Batter's Helmet.
They usually tell me that I "cheated" for it, and then I show them that I have it and that it didn't go away after the update.
They proceed to shut the fuck up.
Quick question, if a new steam user buys TF2 after valve starts to detect the idler program, do you still get the Halo?

I like the Halos. I idled, and I don't have one, but I'm not getting banned from any servers for not having one. They make nice targets if you're a sniper, and if you see a spy wearing them, it's a free kill.
I just really hate seeing soldiers wearing them. He looks so wrong without a helmet coming down over his eyes to give him that "crazed war machine" look. Instead he just looks like a generic video game character.

Halos were not needed. They should have done everything except identifying who idled or not. We wouldn't CRY SOME MORE if butthurt server admins couldn't tell if you idled or not. Then this shit would have went away.

Well that is because the TF community exists only on forums apparently.
If you join decent servers, then you will not see any of this happening. Join crappy servers, and you'll see tons of it. The problem is that crappy servers account for about 3/4 of the tf2 server community.
